Ok lads same old story,had a phone call the other day from a upset wife saying that a driver on the A34 Oxford took about 10 mins to pass another truck both flat out at 90kmh cos one wouldn’t let the other one in both uk trucks the tail back was getting longer anyway when my wife got passed she gave a little beep on the horn just to say yeh well done then the front lorry that just got in gave my wife the big one finger salute !!!Clearly one of our least intelligent truck drivers out there. I’d have given a wave of apology… i doubt it was ten minutes but if so thats a clear lack of judgement and have abandoned it long before.
Besides, how did it effect your wifes day? Not at all I imagine.
The truck i drive is limited to 52mph. When i overtake a truck some times it takes me a while in doing so. I always give a wave of apology to the car i had held up. That’s just the way i drive.

Totally agree with you no one has said it’s against the law to go over 50 on a duel track. All they thing about is my truck can go faster than yours and women are idiots it must be a man thing I got a big truck so I can have a big head well the next time my wife tells me that in AandE department that a mad truck driver has been admitted

What did you hope to achieve by posting this?
I have often wondered why people do this. Do you think that every driver in the country will read this and the driver responsible for delaying your wife by a whole 10 minutes will give you a personal apology?
Chalk it down to experience and move on.
Why do car drivers always moan about getting held up for 5 or 10 mins, just put your foot down for the next 5/10 mins afterwards and the time is made up, easy.
Maybe if cars had tachos, driving time regulations and speed limiters to worry about then maybe some drivers could understand a bit more when the difference between overtaking or not could be the difference between getting home or spending the night in a layby.
Maybe if your wife was happy in bed she shut up moaning

Surely she wouldn’t have been delayed by 10 minutes?
If the cars speed limit is 70, and the truck was doing 56mph (unlikely lol), and she was stuck behind the truck for 10 minutes, then she only actually lost approx 2 mins based on being around 2 1/3 miles further back than she would have been, 2 1/3 miles at 70mph = approx 2 mins.

So I take it your truck is faster than mine so there I bet you was on the 34 that afternoon from botley all the way to the m40 split you still can’t answer a straight question why not people in and stick to the speed limits by the way my daughter is 19 I personally don’t give a ■■■■ but just think about other people politeness cost nothing and goes a long way

…the way I see it that both drivers where wrong the first not letting the other pass …Why should the first driver back off, for all you know he might have had a line of lorries/cars behind him in lane 1 so when he knocks it down a notch or two then all the other lorries/cars then try to overtake him because he’s seen to be slowing down and then all hell breaks loose.
And?
Once driver one backs off, driver two then is clear to overtake thus leaving lane 2 free for drivers to overtake. By going the same speed all you have is a rolling road block.
Did you get your licence out of a cracker?
