My road to HGV

Evening all,
Here I’m gonna do my blog about my journey to become a HGV driver. A quick bit about myself, I’m 41 and although have never taken the plunge I’ve always envied those knights of the road that tamed those big artic beasts though towns, valleys and cities. Well now I’ve made the decision I’m going to try my best to be one of them. Today my journey started for real, long time unemployed and now through the jobcentre I’ve secured ( subject to medical) funding to do my HGV 2 . Well today the forms arrived so I am at the start of the road peps and will add to my blog as any news arrives… Till then safe trucking

Taffy

WIth who are you training with TAFFY?

Training with Atkins hgv

Good on ya Taffy and good luck.

Best of luck, I’m at the same stage as you so I’ll be keen to see how you get on.

Good luck. Looking forward to the updates.

Interesting that JCP have provided funding. I thought that had been stopped a while back.

There is still some funding available, I would advise anyone unemployed to try for it. You have to meet a certain criteria, but I was a multi drop driver years ago and tht was one of the stipulations

Well today peeps I booked my medical, so on the 21st of feb think of me sat in a room ■■■■■■■■ bricks hoping my dream will not be shattered at the first hurdle. Do t know what to expect so would like to know from some of you that have gone through it

Eyesight. Blood pressure. Sugar in your urine. Generally fit. If all those are healthy you have nothing to worry about.

Eye test, blood pressure and some of the test are straightforward.

The internal examination can be uncomfortable depending on the size of the medical examiners finger. But don’t fret too much, you’ll be fine. cough

Had mine on Saturday and included standing on my toes and just one attempt at touching them (that just isn’t going to happen!).

And yes, the internal can be a little uncomfortable!

Pete

Internal?? U best be pulling my ■■■■■■ boys■■?

Nought to do with your ■■■■■■■ Don’t worry about it - they know what they’re doing.

You are just kidding?

Give over worrying. Everybody else has it done and can still walk normally. Just man up!

It’s nothing to worry about. The doctor will only go in a couple of inches and in the unlikely event that he needs to use the “rectal expander”, he’ll give you a bit of wood to bite down on first.

 you lot are tight buggers  but I needed this giggle so thankyou

The 30 mins on the treadmill got me though, I didn’t think there was any need to run at full speed driving an Lgv.

Taffy there is nothing to worry about but know how you feel I was nervous for my medical.

On my medical my doctor was a bit out of the ordinary,
He asked me to hold his balls and cough :open_mouth:
