My Letter to Thurrock Council

i wouldn’t have paid.
i’d take it the house of lords.
congestion my arse.

Santa:

flat to the mat:
Nice one Harry , as previously pointed out a copy to the local rag would be well worth the effort .
Sort of related ish , in Regina at Xmas we have Mary Christmas , a young lady dressed as Santa who whilst being paid by the shopping malls spends her days feeding parking meters downtown , a small gesture that goes along way and also puts a smile on peoples faces , result happiness all around .

Feeding meters is illegal over here. Be a great Christmas story to see Santa baby being carted off in handcuffs by the local plod.

 Yeap it’s illegal here too , but it’s Xmas and nobody’s that ■■■■ here .

“Yeap it’s illegal here too , but it’s Xmas and nobody’s that ■■■■ here .”

Its Christmas here too but in the Great British way if theres a rule,we’ll have a whole army of jobsworths champing at the bit to enforce it. :frowning:

Illegal parking = fine. Problem?

Let me get this straight then.

You have parked illegal and been issued with a ticket for doing so. You appealed and lost! So then go on to whinge even further but still pay up £35 because you are actually guilty of illegal parking :unamused: :unamused:

Then…because people on here like you they all agree with you and everyone else is a ■■■■■■ :unamused:

Couldn’t make it up really

I got myself a ticket when i parked in a bus stand. Yes it was a bus stand i know but i had a bus parked in a loading bay! whilst in the back of the lorry getting the load the warden was placing a ticket on the window.

At the end of the day i got a ticket which i accept now. I was parked in a dodgy place fair enough but at the end of the day if i commited an offence of some sort i expect to be fined for it. I see it has part of there job and if they wasn’t knocking about then the roads would be clogged up with people like us parking in all areas.

I will also say this. I think it’s unfair to wish someone to be made redundant due to the fact you was caught out, and from reading on here i suspect Southern Star will find it hard whilst this country is in a state as it is now. So let’s not wish you to be out of a job eh Harry?

Dri he only paid up because its more hassle then its worth to fight it. Loss of wages etc

No need to say it twice Vern

Did the actions of the O.P. cause anyone inconvienience? to me that would be the crux of the matter.I was done by a safety camera in the small hours of the morning in the middle of no where.Like Harry I am really annoyed about it I would not drive fast near a school ,but on a deserted road its a different thing entirely.

I can see where your coming from but these things work 24 hours a day. They don’t just switch off because “No one is about”

Thurrock Council takes £millions in business rates every year from companies which use road transport, and yet will not make adequate provision for truck parking.

In my view every local authority should have to make provision for truck parking based on the type and size of businesses in the area. Not necessarily at rate-payers expense, but to at least make providing truck parking a condition of planning.

You only have to look at Gloucester where there are a number of cold stores and warehouses where there is nowhere to park trucks that aren’t actually loading/unloading, so you get lay-bys all around clogged with trucks. What idiot allowed that situation to arise?

But you parked illegally and got fined or am I missing something?

^^^
Probably the bit where he had no option (it seems) but to park illegally, although the terms of the rule used to enforce the ticket (congestion) wasn’t applicable at the time the ticket was given.

nice one harry,i got one outside the coop down there and i was off the road on the spare ground in the middle of the nite same as yourself, this was about 2 years back so there are still at it then!total ■■■■■■■■ :frowning:

I really dont think they care , maybe you should send them your accounts and they will see how hard this will hit you at this time of year .HTH.

Nice one H.

Oh well, it’s not like it will come out of your personal account. Book it out as expenses for doing the job. That’s one of the advantages of being an owner driver. I got one in Kensel Green NW10 for the front bumper overhanging the bus stop yellowbox by a camera van in the dark whilst I was loading.

Harry, all that happens when a"public sector parasite" is made redundant is a big pay off them rehired as a “consultant” on twice the money, one of the biggest scams of our times! always the same with local authority management, the poor devil who was out in the middle of the night making out parking tickets is most likely on the minimum wage and set an unrealistic target to meet with the threat of “there’s plenty of Africans out there who’ll do your job mate”,but I agree it’s all an underhand way of revenue raising
