Thanks mate, I was always a big fan of Slim Dusty, right back in the mists of time with his only UK hit ‘The Pub With No Beer’.
But the legend I heard in the Territory was that he wrote his ‘Road Train’ song while/after chatting with Buntine drivers during a visit to Katherine.
Long time gone now, 2003 I think.
There are many great tunes I’ve discovered from this artist, the youtube channel also has a few full albums and good wildlife / nature films and shorts.
Roaming in the Wild is also re-running on Bbc Scotland and so on iPlayer which has him in it and uses some of his music.

Never faced a shotgun with a Dad at the other end, but had a couple of run in’s with a couple of Dads as a lad.
One told his daughter ‘‘Never get in a car with that **** in idiot again’’ , another one had me by the throat, and one came after me after being woken up by ‘‘banging’’ against the outside of their caravan in early hours on the holiday camp I worked at the time.
When I became a Dad myself the penny dropped,.and I saw their points.… and then I had one or two '‘episodes’'with some of the **** s my daughters got involved with.
My Mrs used to say ‘‘Boys are frightened to come around here because of you’’…so my plan worked.
