Music you may not have heard

Classic song. And that is a good version, thanks.

Sometimes I only like one version of a song, but that is one song that has IMHO several good versions. Jimmy Cliff, UB 40 (Jaki Graham on backing!) is excellent, Cher, Oleta Adams, still good but not up to rest.

“Thin Line Between Love and Hate” is another track covered many times, but my preferred version is Pretenders.

I am a big fan of The Pretenders and like 99% of their stuff, but the Grace Jones version of Chrissie Hynd’s “Private Life” is also great.

So, to some links, in no particular order.

Might not be the right thread, but I just thought I’d share it….it’s kinda music related.

Well known songs but this is live and the balance is different. It possibly sounds slightly different because unlike much of the videos of Tambourine Man and Turn, this is the band members playing, and not the Wrecking Crew single recordings dubbed.

Russell is currently doing a farewell tour, at 78 years old, with over six decades in the game, he’s earned the opportunity to put his feet up.
I went to his concert over the weekend. He is still as good as he was in the '70s.

Well worth doing a search for more of his work, on YouTube.

If you’ve been watching “I fought the law” you’ll get how well chosen this was as a theme.

What? opera! yes but this is one that you may well have heard but not know it. I saw the film ‘Room with a View’ on TV the other day and had to pause watching to find out what this tune is called. That had Dame Kiri te Kanawa, but I like this better.

Famously, Montserrat Caballe sang with Freddie Mercury. So this is her at her best. I don’t understand music at all but this has that sudden change of pitch/ key/ or whatever it’s called from full volume high to a quieter low which appeals to me.

I remember Julie Covington playing in the TV series “Rock Follie”. I liked it at the time, but I wonder how that would look today?
