free juice…

Looking back now I can honestly say that murfitts was the best firm I’ve ever worked for simply that they kept me out solid for 18 months and never once docked me a night out! They always paid up and the work was a doddle. Never had to vacate my truck (except when it was MOTd). Then the [zb] of the ministry came in and the firm decided to pull the plug.

Yeah, too true there eurobabe, couldnt say it any better.

Must admit though, do miss murfitts. being left to your own devices.

loading glass at noordeloos holland for england with the most hated trailer off the murfitts fleet

unloading waste paper in belgium with as i thougt the only blue mega trailer off the murfitts fleet

Didn’t murfitt recruit direct from the SAS?.

Yes there were plenty of stories doing the round about the artics hating the drawbars who hated the fridges who hated the litlle wheels etc.

The one about murfitts fighting everywhere and getting barred from most truckstops in europe was almost common folklore in the later half of the nineties.

But think about this!.

  • Murfitt was probably the biggest UK outfit running into europe at that time.
  • Most of his drivers were on regular work so had regular stop offs.
  • In any big firm you will always get the odd [zb].

So if you were weekended at most of the routiers used by brits you would see a murfiit or two out in the lorry park.

You also didn’t have to look very far in most of these place to find some W***** who though he was rambo after a couple of french lagers ( remember that in the uk we still had 3% lager at that time).

I know and could name a few firms who’s drivers were a lot worse ambassadors for the uk than murfiitt.

By the way I’ve never worked for murfiit but have weekended with a few of there drivers and most were just your average bloke forced to park up for the weekend.

By the way if you want to firm who’s drivers really would fight there own shadows thare was a removals firm from somewhere near oxford with yellow motors, Fraikin or something I think, and they were regularly punching each others lights out on the pompey leharve boat…

Cheers

Yellow removal firm near Oxford… Lucker Brothers

Hi everyone someone told me about the site so i had to join. I worked for murfitts from 93-96 then had a break, again from 97-99 if you left on good terms they would take you back, i knew some drivers came back about 4 times! i mostly did fridges too holland, belgie, france, they let me of the lead about once a month to spain. it really was a good company everything was organised, cards for tolls, diesel, etc, backloads were nearly always ready when they said.Yes there were a few idiots and some drivers would ignore the fridges, but most of the drivers i met were ok, Gaz wagon & drag Eric savage artic, tracey road train, Bart the belguim shuttle, smudger, theres alot more i just can’t remember, i would go back again as i’m out of work at mo. Like someone else said rumours were started for the sake of it, us fridge drivers got alot of stick from some of another fridge firm i can’t remember the name of, but it was only 2 or 3 of there drivers, the irony is one of them even started at at murfitts about 98!

Just remembered some more names from the fridge section :and some from the artics/road trains, big trev, chappy, tattoo dave, alex (AKA pops) john smith, gary owen, mark bessey, little trev, maurice(the shunter) the rawlings brothers, Pappy, paul ?, andy ?, mark mowbray, dill, al lunn, john atkinson, sqeaky mick, pete, smudger, eric savage, cat weasle, macon pat, paul godfrey, peter and janet in the office, steve foster (office) i don’t know where any of them are now apart from 1.
