Muppet truck drivers

My DAF does 55 but I put the CC on at 52, then if I’m struggling to overtake I can use the extra juice to get past and then slow back to 52. In roadworks I do 48 and I rarely catch anyone up. If a car starts slowing in front of me I go round it. I keep to 52 for as long as possible and do you know what? When I get to the destination 5 mins after the lad who set off at the same time as me. I’m nice and relaxed and stress free… The other lad isn’t and is normally a grumpy bollox and sits in his cab and sulks!

I just don’t understand why drivers tailgate. It achieves nothing. If I ever get someone right up my chuff I tend to go a bit slower just to drive them mad. No need for it. If these drivers left a decent gap and not be bothered about some ■■■ who jumps in the space then they’ll be much happier and their breaks will thank them too.

Left hand down!:

Sometimes it is car drivers fault for pulling in too early after overtaking then slowing down when theres no need. So therefore, pull out to overtake them and the plebs speed up. [zb]!!!

A set of roadworks is about the only time you ever see a car in the inside lane. 50 flashes up, ‘‘where is the nearest truck to dive bomb in front of’’ and then they slow up. Happens nearly every time.

I came up with a solution to this problem some time ago! Right… what it is… make lane 1 width restricted to 6’6 instead of lane 3. Leave lanes 2 and 3 normal width and allow HGVs to use lane 3 in roadworks. This would mean that all the cars would be in lanes 1 and 2 doing their usual 45mph with their arses nipping about being caught by SPECS and we could fly past them all in lane 3 with CC set at 50 like we would do if they weren’t getting under our feet in lane 1. Genius!

There is of course the small matter of what to do about motorway junction exit and entries but I’m working on that. :stuck_out_tongue:

liking that :grimacing: just do to them what they do to us at junctions, wait until you are 100m or less then just shoot across happy days

had one last night jn 17 ish 41mph in the middle lane over taking fresh air and the truck on the inside lane wouldnt under take him which would have been legal due to the speeds :unamused: never got up his back side stayed around 2 to 3 cars back gave in a flash (once) and then he moved to the 3 lane :open_mouth: :unamused:

We supposedly all know that tailgaiters are thick arrogant selfish drivers but what about the countless other drivers that travel too close to the vehicle in front?
As professional drivers we should all know what is a safe traveling distance from the vehicle in front but why do so many not seem to bother?
Please do not mention the 2 second rule because that definitely does not apply to a loaded truck!

Typical…no response to a simple question.Does anyone know the difference between tailgaiting and traveling too close?
The lack of replies probably suggests many do travel too close which is exactly what we see on our roads everyday.
Drivers will never learn!

Albion, is Tailgating done in an aggressive manor, where as driving too close is just well, driving too close?

Exactly right antbox.Strange why nobody wants to discuss it though!

Oh Muppet Truck drivers…Like the ■■■ wipe this morning in Farnham :smiling_imp:

I was sat there in traffic minding my own business taking my son and daughter to school in my car, we where stuck in the usual morning traffic and a driver who just finished his delivery at one of them Tesco express’s, I witnessed him casually into his cab, pulled out into the flow traffic, which wasn’t moving much in either direction
…proceeding to sit his trailer over a zebra crossing…and due to the volume of traffic and parked cars in front of him…proceeded to throw on his right indicator and expected everyone to move out the way…Talk about inpatient ■■■■■■■■■■■■ to shake his head vigorously, the putting his hands over his face and giving everyone dirty looks, like it was everyone else’s fault…talk about stressed attitude…and drivers wonder why we are though of so badly by the general public…Professional he was not :open_mouth:

At this point he glanced down at me and was just about to mouth off… so I got in there first…

Currently watching ‘Trucking Hell’ on sky. Documentary about large vehicle recovery drivers.
Some muppet decided to park on a grass verge , on a dual carriageway in London somewhere. Driving a class 2 to make a delivery. The driver stated he usually parks there as he didn’t want to block the main road, however it had been raining for a week before and the ground was soaked. He got stuck.

So recovery chap drives along to rescue him and has to work on a live lane to tow the driver out. Muppet driver in the class 2 can’t work out why he can’t just be dragged out! He was Eastern European, and didn’t know if he had a towing eye either.

So the result was the driver couldn’t make his delivery, he got his vehicle stuck and inevitably cost his company a lot of money.

Just shows how these muppets go and get a cat c license with no common sense and get themselves into avoidable situations.

Not many users still here, just you & Albion.

There might have been already tractor units with Adaptive Cruise Control back in 2014. First one I drove was a DAF for Jack Richards&offspring in 2015

This has certainly brought some names back to mind!
