Mud flaps on wrong way round

Hiya …about been noticed thats where it all started. a company would have five identical
f 88s one would have a car wheel trim on the grill someone would have spots a atkinson
knight head was a must. so to recognise someone it had to be forward facing flaps on one.
this was in the days when drivers spoke to eachother. there was no phones or cb radios
to notice a pal from a distance was to have a mark that stood out .
in the early 70s bling was the thing. badges crome discs silver wheel trims
michelin men and flags long before spotlights and kelso bars could be afforded.

On a similar note, when did the trend of attaching sink chains to the corners of your bumper start? And what do they do? :astonished:

there was a thread on that a while ago no answer was found lol…

I always thought it was a load indicator - if the chain touches the floor, the axle is overloaded…
Mind you, that would assume that the driver gives a ■■■■

I do like the “trophies” worn on the front of dustcarts; I’ve seen barbie dolls, golly (zb)ogs and even vibrators
