Rob K:
How the [zb] can it look “smart” and “mega sweet” and other such ridiculous comments? They have about the same use as putting the 5th wheel on backwards. Mud flaps are designed to stop mud so unless you do a lot of very fast speeds in reverse they are completely pointless. If you want people to know you’re driving a Volvo that much, why not just stick a couple of [zb] Volvo decals on the bottom corners of the front bumper? At least that way you won’t look a [zb] and you won’t be losing 1 mpg in consumption from the drag either.
Why are all truckers thick as [zb]? In all the time I’ve been driving them I can recall about 3 that actually had some intelligence. The rest were as stupid as these [zb] who don’t know where a mud flap should be mounted. Perhaps they should read the instructions that they come with.
putting a 5th wheel on backwards would stop the trailer from falling off.
I wonder why all the manufacturers waste time and energy developing smooth slippery shapes in a climatic wind tunnel to get the lowest drag figures. They needn’t bother and could sell the product for less money

wow!! 1 mpg from mud flaps add some spots and we must be doing 0 mpg i guess they look nice … doesn’t have to be practical does it??
They look a bit ginger beer…like “haulin ■■■” chrome plates, dreamcatchers and bullsheeter arrows. I’d rather have a toolbox fitted behind the cab to hold spare gloves, gallon can of coolant/oil etc…
i like them. I dont understand why there needs to be a big topic about it though, next weeks moan will be spotlights, followed by paintwork, then anything chrome.
I dont mean to be patronising but im almost certain the OP doesnt have a bog standard truck with no extras whatsover, nothing to make it a wee bit more like his!
We all have our creature comforts and our opinions on things! The fact there is a whole thread dedicated to it means they are being noticed and its a trend many want to continue!

If you enjoy looking like a complete ■■■■, then yes, I suppose so.
Think it’s because the owner are the best in the world at reversing, therefore going at least as fast backwards as forward! (At least they think they do!)
Aren’t they just additional custom nameplates? The fact that they’re rubber mudflaps is surely only for practical reasons. As with fold-up lower steps on construction chassis, should you hang your bumper over a verge or kerb they’ll just fold-up rather than snap and break (like the 2/3-series Scania number plates that some people insisted on mounting down there). I personally think they look ok if done properly. The same with manufacturers names on proper rear mudflaps, just like a finishing touch to a uniform for example.
each to thier own ( i quite like them personally ) its hardly the biggest issue to get irate and post up photos of someonnes pride and joy and call them allsorts over someone must be very bored

Clearly you have a different definition of “irate” to everyone else :
I:
Is it just me that thinks it looks utterly stupid?

With out taking a vote? Its a mixed bag of opinion.
Perhaps a poll should be run along the lines of do you buy “accessories” to enhance your truck? It could be sponsored by a tat supplier who frequents truckshows and charges a fortune for shiny chinese junk…
