Well as some of you may know my last job turned out to be just holiday cover and after approaching countless companies once more KB event decided to give me a trial. This will not guarantee me a job but it might! They seem to take on full time drives but also do a lot of adhoc.
Anyway the initial plan was to pick the truck up from notts drive to Swansea to collect my load and then double drive to Aberdeen and then home. 3 days max.
That plan soon changed instead I started Sunday and drove down tractor only with 2 other tractors in front and parked up.
Nice 5 hour working day and got too see the rod Stewart gig that night!
Just as I was dozing off in my cab to the soothing bass line off maggie bang, crash, boom it’s fair to say I jumped a mile, nearly put my head through the sun roof.
Of course the end of show is signified by a 10 minute low level firework display and we are parked right alongside and under the bang and drop zone. I’m sweeping my roof off then.
So after nearly 18 hours rest we are up and prepared to load the steel up. The steel that is still in the form of a stage right in front of us! This is going to be a long day!
We were eventually called up for mid day so cards in and drive round to the loading point, a load of grass and enough Tarmac for one truck. Messy
Long story the word cluster ■■■■ was used many times we were working way past mikey t’s bed time and didn’t get to roll out but I message you today from eland road stadium were I am parked up until
Thursday which is when I shall be leapfrogging with another team to get it gone to Aberdeen.
There is loads more to this story but as I’m sure any driver who has come across a tour drive will know the Internet doesn’t have the space to document this!
What is the working week sun/mon to fri or just when they say? And what’s the money like? I’m so fed up of general haulage fancy something different I wouldn’t mind the graft but don’t know any tour firms in or near notts?

Kb are in notts, but from the questions your asking mate I don’t know if the job will suit you. The hours are anything between one day on 6 months off to 4 months away in a foreign country, and you will never know. I was going out for 3 nights at the start of the week, I am now on night 4 of 9 and that’s as it stands at the moment.
It will change by tomorow that’s a certainty.
As for the hours, it depends on the job if it’s a gig you usually leave once they have broke down and then drive through the night but again that can change.
Lots of tiresome waiting around, I’m a quarter of the way through a 24 hour break at the moment. But then I will be non stop for 3 days. I do believe they call it rock n roll

Money is ok, in fact I would say very good but my god you put the hours in for it! I will reserve a true judgement on it until I do actually get paid next week as the last place took 9 weeks to actually get my money to me!

It could be 35k a year but £6 an hour hence working round the clock so imo it would be crap. I would imagine it being ok money it was said Tongue in cheek but then you jocks don’t have much of a sense of humour
Well unles your a doctor or politician you don’t get 35k on a 9-5 put it this way my mate who works for another company has a minor driving role in the take that tour. Yes it’s 90 days but he sits around for 2 out of 4 days and the wage. Well it’s a 16 grand tour.
I would not turn my nose up at that

Well I have now been parked at j38 truckstop for 24 hours so I’m going to move 1/2 mile up the road to continue waiting for my load. ETA 7pm. Then I face a nice old drive through the night to Aberdeen. I think mr redbull ( other energy drinks are available) will be coming into play.

Fair play to you, I certainly don’t do it for the love of the job but if it’s good for you then you do what makes you happy
I have to make do with seeing photos of my kid through the week when I’m not home I really couldn’t leave home for more then a week unless the money was ridiculous in which case I might

I understand your view. I was the same in my younger days.
Make the most of it and enjoy, at least in years to come you won’t be saying " I wish I’d done that ".
