Mount Sorrell Tippers

I bow to your greater knowledge there wardy. F-reg seems about right ! Thats around the time i remember 1st seeing that reg.

wardg:
What a great thread, brings back memories of being a kid again, unfortunately the anorak in me had me writing down reg’s instead of taking photos. There may be a few if I get my scanner plugged in though.

Derek Wheatleys - Always remember his fodens ‘Top Cat’, ‘Kit Kat’, ‘■■■■■ Power’ and all that with a stunning livery, one of the best I can remember. Still runs a couple i think, but the livery isn’t a patch on the 4000 series

Selbys, remember having to avoid the convoys of their 4000 series on an afternoon delivering papers. Another great livery

Wesmores - Remember a Foden and Constructor of theirs

Kinch’s - F reg Foden, remember a write up in T&D or something about this

M1 BRU - Is that one of M Brewsters wagon. He used to run a bright yellow FL10 out of Fleckney on that place. Would see it at the local garage getting a clean on a Sunday. There’s an identical FH cab KY58 something, saw both within 5 mins of each other last week

LAY 631E - remember seeing that at a classic truckshow at Crick way back preserved in the livery of Breedon & Cloudhill, but can’t have taken a photo of it :frowning:

Hurry up and get that scanner plugged in and lets see some pics.
Would be nice to know what other reg numbers you had taken down…

Cheers
Matt

roadcommander2:
Nice R-cab Scania easing out of the gate

Don’t mean to sound picky but that’s a G cab essentially an R-cab but the day version

did i read somewhere that Eric Elliot has packed up?

I’m just going to dust my anorak off for a bit here!!

E905 DNR, XJV1 (Flt 50), G140 UUT (Flt 60 Tom Cat), H338 DJU (Flt 70 Kit Kat), M752 HBC (Flt 80 Dels Lad). I would suggest the 0 on the fleet number was a bit of fun and would make the original XJV1 about F-reg?

Also followed by Alpha’s Y905 NAY (Bit of a Gem) and XJV1 (Bit of Krystal). Not forgetting the little DAF 45 Curtainsides he had Baby Tonka III & Baby Tonka IV amongst others I would think!

Kit Kat was one of Derek’s drivers  got his own truck these days, still in Redland though…i mean Lafarge

Not that I know of.
I spoke to him a few weeks ago and my Uncle who drove for him (You may of known him) knows a chap still working for him.
I think he only runs a couple of 8 wheelers now and they are mainly on site work. The rest of the fleet are artics moving scrap and also has a few walking floor trailers too. As for the quarry work I dont think he has much to do with that now :frowning:

Keep the pictures coming though guys I am sure there are plenty out there!!
