dont know if any other drivers are getting paranoid, but when driving on the motorway and you see people standing on the bridges i now find myself looking at them in case they have something in their hand and getting prepared to take evasive action in case they do throw anything,it can be annoying but its better to be safe than sorry especially when you hear of drivers getting seriously injured or killed by such actions from mindless individuals, just another bit of stress in a drivers life

Negative thoughts such as this are often a clear indication of your own state of mind.
Please seek help, either a close relative or friend is a better first choice than the medico’s IMO.
Good luck.
for several years I have taken particular notice of people, especially young ones, on bridges over the road.
being paranoid does NOT mean that they aren’t out to get you, only that you are especially aware of it!

I’d like to think it is in every drivers handbook to be aware of folk on bridges, it would be stupid to pass beneath someone blatantly ‘dropping’ things onto traffic passing below.
It would be equally stupid to focus & dwell upon it, don’t you think?
Paranoia is a dangerous state of mind, if you suffer from it, then you really shouldn’t be behind the wheel.
I watch them , especially if they are leaning on the barriers looking over, never know if something is gunna get threw off or if they jump off
Most of them just want to take my picture.
Not much you can really do about anything else apart from duck.
sadly been there happened several years ago when a women jumped off bridge in front of me something that you never forget so sad it was.
beware of wannabe psychology trolls
I do know what you mean especially if you see someone on one of those bridges at night !!
I also hate it when cars for whatever reason want to sit in front of you on an empty motorway at night doing around 56mph as i keep thinking they are going to do one of those crash for cash scams

+1
Never used to bother me, but a few years ago someone threw a shopping trolly of a bridge in front of me. Luckily they were ■■■■■■ a the time and their judgment was of so it hit the ground about a foot to the right of me and a second before I got there. Cops picked him up latter, seemingly it wasn’t his first time at doing that kind of thing.
I never think about it now, but I’m always a bit wary when I see folk hanging about on bridges, you don’t know what’s in their mind.
Jeff…
The worst time for this sort of thing is during school holidays, (The devil finds work for idle hands!)
Also the thing to look for now-a-days, is the person on the wrong side of the railings, or climbing over them.
You keep checking those bridges Jelliot, but don’t get paranoid about it.

I like to think that you were merely firing for effect with this post, because if you weren’t then it says way more about your state of mind than the op’s. The op merely mentioned that people on bridges made him mindful and extra alert when passing beneath them, at no time did he suggest that he suffered from a debilitating and irrational fear when facing such a situation.
Statistically I’d imagine that being struck by an object thrown from a bridge is very small, but you certainly won’t die by being mindful of it, in much the same way that being killed by lightning is quite rare, it’d be a foolhardy person who ventured out in a thunderstorm to fly a kite!
I suggest a long lie down in a darkened room to consider whether your life is in fact worth continuing with. Hth.

What does “dont know if any other drivers are getting paranoid” mean to you?

You have hatred in your heart, did I displease you as ‘the maoster’ or one of your socks?
To be honest I get paranoid in the car, it’s just a second instinct like when we are watching the road a head looking for dangers as we do, but there is danger from above and your brain is telling you to be prepared because it has seen a danger. but why do’s your brain know it’s a danger because you seen it in the new’s so your brain has registered that danger and just making you aware of the danger. The brain is a very very intelligent it is only us human’s that brakes it due to drugs or alcohol to make it malfunction.
I think a lot of drivers are mindful of what can, and has been thrown off motorway bridges over the years. I’m not on the motorways much these days, but when I am I’m always aware that some moron could hurl something off a bridge.
Doesnt have to be from bridges, was almost back at the depot of a company i was working for one evening three or four youths came round the corner next thing i knew bang one of the little buggers had thrown something at the truck cracked the windscreen and dented the bodywork just thankful it was on the nearside and not mine. Sure makes the bum cheeks squeeze tight.

not something i would like to happen to me
They don’t even have to be on the bridge, had a lump of 3x2 lobbed sideways at my truck going past one years ago on the M8.
Oneday saw two people with something in their hands on bridge over M.K. dual carriageway A 5. I put foot down, flat out and sounded both air horns, each 80 decibels. As i got closer saw they were two cops with speed camera. Thought oops didn’t hear anything though. Shouldn’t be on a bridge like that, makes folk worry. I thought yobs, and might not drop anything if i sound horns.
