Any other time I go off on one on here about the Old Bill and their prioritising on minor traffic offences, raising revenue on the same, and issues involving HGVs, over actual crime, we get the usual suspects coming back with ‘‘Different department, it’s Traffic Division’’ …not so this time, but no response on this I notice.

You only have to venture to the shops to see the overhwhelming compliance from a nation who in times gone by absolutely refused to bow to sheer hell such as the Blitz or who dug their way out of horrendous snowdrifts sometimes having been cut off in villages for weeks on end, but no idiot box in the corner in those days urging them to fear their own shadows.

Yes, despite the obvious cases of overzealous policing which are highlighted (and rightly so), I will say this. The police on the whole, do an unthankful job, largely unseen by the public, to keep us safe and sound. Yes, some of them sometimes ■■■■ up. Just like some hgv drivers sometimes ■■■■ up. Oh how we howl on here, when in some sensationalist news paper we are all called ‘incompetent idiots driving death machines’…

I have nothing but derisory scorn for the busy bodies who volunteer to go around in an officially sanctioned hiviz, to boss their neighbours around. Hopefully, soon, somebody with more balls than me, kicks one of them down the gutter.
But despite the bad apples, the majority of coppers are trying to do a decent job. They are just as (if not more) frustrated by the red tape and PC inclusivity ■■■■■■■■ and all that as we are.
And I know, my dad was a copper for over 40 years.
I don’t disagree with a lot of your points about the police Robroy, however,most of them are ok (got a few friends who are serving or retired officers) and are just human beings like you and I, faults and all. At the end of the day, who else will we call when the ■■■■ hits the fan and we have to dial 999. I’m no apologist for them but the alternative is anarchy. My beef lies with the judiciary and the constant soft sentencing of serious criminals.

I’ve said before on here, I don’t blame the coppers ‘on the ground’, it’s their out of touch superiors who not only pander to, but are amongst the biggest subscribers to the PC crew.
They have lost their way in their reason for existence.
Apart from that (again said it before) their second priority is raising cash under the guise of road safety and the like, where as real crime that everybody in the general public wants to see sorted takes a back seat in favour of the agendas I’ve just mentioned.
I ain’t going to either feel guilty about or apologise for, going to use them in the circumstance you mention,.as that is one of the reasons I pay my tax, the problem is their performance leaves a lot to be desired, as does the resulting obligatory ‘crime number’’
As for anarchy,.are we not going down that road already?
The popularity of the Police is at an all time low, to the point where very few have much respect for them.
I’m also not going to apologise for having a pop at the Police on here at every opportunity either, they deserve all the criticism they get.

I do love your posts! You’re so desperate to feel like a radical dissident. So many are like you. Your biggest disappointment is often that no one on authority (that you think controls everything) takes the slightest bit of interest in you.
