Yup… what a place to “Chill out”. I think the driver should be prosecuted as there is absolutely no excuse with a fridge box. A solid padlock or container lock would have seen this avoided.

Fridge are so easy to securstill yet time and again when I used to come into Calais I’d be behind fridges and boxes unlocked and unsealed. Too many drivers take stupid risks

it is rather easy to enter a ‘locked’ fridge trailer you have to remember these people have had months to practice on a nightly basis as
for it being ‘Aunt Bessies’ a great deal of it is produced in France.I doubt any trailer can be secured 100% if they are desperate enough and
YES been there and got the T shirt the only saving is I climbed out at the French heart beat monitor and opened the doors despite them waving me through,
simple solution is like they do in Caen,search every vehicle reasonably thoroughly.

If by ‘accident’ you were locked inside that fridge what would you do first?..well I’d probably stack the boxes up in front of the fridge as tight as poss.

Body Heat, don’t underestimate body heat. Enforcement agencies would have provide none heat conductive materials if they needed them. 2 people in a single sleeping bag could survive those temps for almost 12 hours.
Back in the day (early 2000s), military sleeping bags could take a guy to -15 alone.

It’s possible that whilst on the ferry the fridge was off,as a frozen load will remain frozen for longer than 2hrs inside a decent trailer
I know a driver who had iirc 6=7 of them found in his trl (Frigo,running @-25c ) he had padlocked the doors and it was sealed, whilst he was taking his 9 or 11hrs off @ a MSA on the A25 near steenvorde they broke the padlock and glued it up, as well as the seal, he didn’t notice when doing a visual check before setting off for the boat,
And it was the sniffer dog in the lanes that detected them, he said they had been in there around 4hrs ,(after he later found out it was probably the work of traffickers ) as when he reviewed the CCTV it showed a suspect van stop near to the trl , and drive away a short time later, both company and driver fined , the invaders were not in a good way ,they all were taken to the hospital
Aunt Bessies crispy migrants- pre heat oven to 190 degrees, place migrants on a baking tray and cook for 30 mins turning halfway through, make sure migrant is cooked through and juices run clear before eating…
