Skids! You are correct about units not being used at Crick! It’s whoever is booking the jobs! At least that’s what some planners have said!
I know of loads parked up in depots for weeks and they don’t know where they are! Stobart drivers send trailer numbers to the planners for each job collected but Agency drivers don’t use the TMS so don’t! They are supposed to call in trailer numbers and locations dropped in!
That’s a big FAIL and 9 times out of 10 us Trampers will be diverted to collect these loads and a chain reaction occurs!
The meeting I had I was told that Data which had be collected but unused was being used now in an efficiency drive! i.e get rid of Trampers from some depots and get rid of shift men at others!!
I wonder how long it will be till they ask us to go tramping again!
when you say send a message dessy, what do you mean,if you mean put in new tri number under trailer pickup on iso-trac ,thats doesnt work, or it doesnt with us[a message comes up telling you youve just picked up the wrong tri :and to call t.o straight away],weve now been told you have to ring the new tri number into t.o

A few more can go now as tesco are cutting 40,000 lorry movements a week between Daventry and Thurrock as well as Daventry and Magor by putting it all on train!
the 24/7 running started with CORBY CHILLED,then innovate, then stobarts just continued it when they took the chilled side over
Not quite the full story:
I was working agency for three years at Blakes, Alcester. They were running their ERFs 25/7 as far as they were able. Never went in to a cold frosty truck there.
They sold out to [I forgot] who got taken over by Arla. They sold it to Corby and I was working the day it happened - big shock all round.
The Corby drivers all had smart motors but the impression that we got when we went to their yard was that they used a lot more people to move fewer pallets than Blakes ever did.
Corby tried to do it the way Blakes did and then Innov@te took it over. I wasn’t working there then.
then stobarts took over onnovate and it got even worse!
for the first 2/3 yrs it was run pretty much as innovate did it other than most trucks carried more pallets, but eventually this year, theyve got stobarts gts system to work instead of the old man-pac system, were not now doing anywhere as much empty running, collections seem much closer to drops, not so much sitting round in mornings waiting for a truck,if they didnt persist with these stupid ideas of running with no fuel then it wouldnt be a millions miles away from quite efficient.

i dont think the planning is doing any favours myself today i tipped 3 drops in london by 11 am so i rang up an asked if they had an early pick up for me they told me to hang on as they were quite down there
10 mins later there on the phone get to sidcup asap u got a load for brighton an its urgent how can you be quite and yet ten mins later running around like a mad man
i dont belive shift running is any more efficent ie having a driver run 60 mile for arguments sake back to the yard just so another driver can take the truck 80 mile in the same direction how can that be any better
like ady 1 said if they do it it wont be long untill you have hoards of drivers sat waiting fr trucks due to the fact the drivers in them have been held up stuck in traffic etc

How do you work that out Ken, when Stobart Rail are running the trains
But as there is obviously a major restruction at the moment, how many drivers are they going to lose? Yes these loads are going by rail, and the goods still have to be got to their end destination by road, but as quoted 40,000 truck movements per week are to be cut as a result of the rail expansion must mean that there are inevitably going to be driving casualties.
Remember there is only 1 person driving the train, so where do all the drivers go that run these 40,000 truck movements?
And as Stobarts are the main mover of Tesco goods, that must mean that their glory days must now be coming to an end.

Ken.
which then isnt good for joe bloggs transport as theyll be looking to get work from elsewhere,as matey said to me tues-youve took our zb contract, weve had that years, bet youve undercut us to get it ,we had that contract years ago,but so i was told it wasnt worth the hassle, but now i guess theyll take it,tesco putting work on trains may just not just effect stobarts.
only good thing is theres no mention of cream cakes, yougurts or sarnies going on the trains, yet

loads parked up for weeks and they dont know where they are,if thats true[ive no doubt its not],thats shocking,a supposed top logistics firm who loose tris for weeks on end ,mind after all the years ive been at my depot chap asked me a few months ago who i was ,bloke from another company was sat in canteen talking to me whilst being tipped, and bloke who hands out jobs asked me what time i started, then he asked the other bloke : : ,and said hed sort us out jobs, ,matey looked totally bewildered, shot out door and back to his truck

Didn’t they go into Middlesborough on Tuesday to get rid of the nightshift?
Didn’t they then go onto Leeds on Tuesday and sacked everyone with immediate effect?
Didn’t they then go into Goole on Tuesday to rid Tossco of it’s trampers with immediate effect?
Didn’t they then go to Barlborough on Tuesday to get rid of the trampers with immediate effect?
Just wondering…
Ken.
Now then mouth!!! please get your facts right - with immediate effect

The above info came from one of their drivers, not third hand via some outside source.
And as they all end with a ? can YOU answer any of the questions then and back up what I was told?
Going back to what santa said I worked for blakes, express chilled, corby ,inobvate and now stobarts and in my opinion stobarts is no worse than any of them express were loosing money but had the cream milk to keep them going corby sold to inovate, inovate lost money sold to stobbies I think its just nature of chill work its hard to make money. And from what I hear for stobarts to get the tesco contract they had to have a chill division up and running.Hey presto inovate!

Innovate’s financial backers pulled out.
As I understand it, they were such a large part of the supermarket food chain someone had to keep it going.
Stobart didn’t take the whole lot, just the chilled and ambient.
Yearsley took on the frozen.

Whats that then Ady??
Is it applicable to everyone or just newark"half tank" depot??

A4 sheet along with all the other A4 sheets are a sure sign of the high calibre driver that Stobart are now taking on!! Or is it trainers trying to justify their jobs in hard economic times!!

i really dont know what to think to be honest, there getting rid of a 100+ drivers then paying someone to write ■■■■■■■■ like this,i remember 4 yrs ago when they took over being told you know the job, just get on with it,4 years later im being told how to diesel a truck up
I am certainly no financial expert, but could it be a cashflow problem ■■? Last filed accounts: 24/11/2010 reveals companycheck.co.uk/company/00995045 .

If the only way to make a truck pay is to run it for 24 hours, it’s a sure indication that slashing the rates to ribbons to get work is finally coming home to roost.
its not just Stobarts who are cutting back, wincanton are as well .

Ken.
Sorry, I was a bit abrupt for some reason.
Can’t answer for Leeds or M’boro.
Goole and Barlborough have been warned they may be on 30 days intended redundancy but the consultation has not been completed yet. Can’t remember the exact wording
Some trampers will be required for day jobs I would imagine and some for nights.
