More H&S bollo

animal:
About 18 mph ago now I fell of the side of the trailer

Top tip- always come to a complete stop before unloading…H&S and all that…

Sorry  …im now getting my coat… :grimacing:

Until they invent non stick mud or tipper bodies made with Teflon, then how else am I supposed to get load residue out?

nick2008:
In fairness to the forklift driver he’s only doing what he’s been told.
I think the H&S rules state if your working more than a mt above ground a fixed barrier or fall arrest system is to be in place.
It’s not about insurance it’s about safety.
You put your seatbelt on don’t you ? And why ?
It’s been proven to save lives that’s why. The same as most things
PREVENTION is better and cheaper than cure.

Yeh but get off the fence mate, say what you really mean.

EVEN I was tactful when I quoted his post and commented on it. :open_mouth:
Not going to say if I agree with you or if I don’t.

Unfortunately we only here when something does go wrong then they bring out some H&S to try to prevent this from happening again although nowt is full proof no matter what

They try to protect themselves so people don’t make a claim

Health and safety =People with no real job .
Try working for local authority ,You get to spend time doing pathetic risk assessments like this.

  1. As i walked up to the gate of the playground ,i generally take 7 steps then left hand on gate first ,Followed by a step back to pull on the gate with low preasure .followed by every step’Cut short as to not offend via boredom’ .then some git in the office will give you a time for the job .
    It has gone to far.

The farcical thing is that we are not allowed to do so many things on the grounds of H&S, you can’t stand near the trailer, you have to walk 200 yards to get to a toilet 30 feet away and so on, I’m surprised we are actually allowed to take a lorry on the public roads.

As for having to hand in your keys and cant even sit in your own truck on some loading bays, wtf is that all about as well? Having to sit in a little room because as an experienced driver you cant be trusted with your own property?
The naziesque implementation of the boots/hi viz and hard hat bs has spiralled out of control in the UK and the type that enforce this are also the ones who will go along with the fallacy that speed kills ect, another load of complete ballcocks… :unamused:

The reason is because some brain dead fool tried to drive off with the forklift still inside the trailer. Whether you agree with the system or not, these things have been put into place to protect the Plant Pot Brigade from either hurting themselves or others or both.

Can’t agree with you Andrew about the ’ speed kills ’ statement mate.

I use this phrase regularly whilst performing a Bruce Lee style karate move about an inch from my 11 year old lad’s head.
Unfortunately though it has backfired :frowning:

(He has informed me this morning that he has done the maths, and in about 7 years he is gong to kick the ■■■■ out of me).

A lad I used to work with slipped off the toilet in factory I used to work at he put a claim in and got nearly 6 thousand pounds all because there was no safe system of work conducted on how to use the toilet correctly or and signs.

Too obvious.

I had to believe it as I was the group leader at the time I had to do all the statements at the time I laughed at the time thinking he taking the pizz but he involved the first aider so had to do it properly

Send me the name of this solicitor that won his claim for him then.
I could have a few jobs for him.

It can be used to your own advantage though. We don’t really follow any H&S rules and prefer to take the Darwinian approach. But there is one job that I hate doing so I always pull the ‘Has it been risk assessed and can I see the safe system of work’ card. It always works because it hasn’t been.

In 7 years? Hope your son isn’t aged 3 or something eager

Mind you if he is, not only will he be kicking your nut in, he’ll be a wizz if he’s already doing maths

Lol. He reckons because he will be 18 and I will be 50, he can ’ have ’ me Dog.

I quizzed him about 16 vs 48 and he doesn’t fancy his chances…but 18 vs 50 is a dead cert in his view. So no more Greggs for Beaver :frowning:
Told him " There is a storm coming…you better prepare ".

His response was " Like thunder, very noisy but ultimately does nothing ". Little [zb]
