Lol. He reckons because he will be 18 and I will be 50, he can ’ have ’ me Dog.
I quizzed him about 16 vs 48 and he doesn’t fancy his chances…but 18 vs 50 is a dead cert in his view. So no more Greggs for Beaver
Told him " There is a storm coming…you better prepare ".
His response was " Like thunder, very noisy but ultimately does nothing ". Little [zb]
Ah young buck talk, you get harder with age. Just like leather, both body and mind. Tell him that
Either that or bring him down a peg and point out that twenty years after that he’ll be wiping your backside
Ah Siniat!! It’s the worst for H&S I’ve ever come across.
TBH that place makes me love doing fridge work all the more!
That bloody trolley is the most embarrassing thing I’ve pushed, since a slightly “rotund” woman was “pushed” out of my front door on a Sunday morning after the sober reality hit me.
(If by pure fluke your reading this, I was going to ring but I lost your number. Honest)
If anybody asks why production is down in the U.K. This thread has the answer .
The real problem is everybody has there own version of h&s if it was standardised it would be a lot easier

Couldn’t agree more.
No sign of most of this Bull Shine when you tip or load in Euroland and you don’t hear about dodgy accidents or even dodgier claims.
But they do have proper facilities to handle trucks unlike most Industrial estates here where there isn’t space to swing a cat and a proper loading bay is a rarity.
“The price war, sparked by the rise of German duo Aldi and Lidl, has engulfed the sector and has seen all of the so-called Big Four supermarkets - Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons - come under pressure.”
Smile if you are reading this in their holding cells cos the day of reckoning for these over empowered maggots is real close.
Just checked and my little yellow card runs out next month, I shall have to be shown all over again how to push the trolley up the correct way
The other one I hate is the paper recycling place that makes you wear a hard hat with a full face shield to pull your curtains etc. I’ve asked why they think not one driver who visits their site has them only to recieve a patronising smile and nod

First time I loaded at Siniat (back in the lafarge days) I joked that I couldn’t use the blue lights on the trolley as it was a criminal offence to use them if you aren’t a member of the emergency services on a 999 call. Next time I went they had been changed to orange
And I’m banned from all DS Smith sites, they’re the ones who insist on full face visors. They handed me one at the weighbridge, and apparently asking what the first p in ppe stands for, warrants a uk wide site ban. Happy days

Yeah, that’s them. I obviously asked the wrong question, I’ll try yours next time
No point blaming the companies of the staff, HSE set the rules. Working at Height regs state that you need to remove or reduce the risk of someone being injured from a fall.
So if you can’t install edge protection i.e. on a curtainsider being unloaded from the side you should have a fall arrest system in place.
In the case of of being allowed on the bed with the back open and the sides closed, as stupid as it sounds that does reduce the risk as only one side to fall from.
The difficult part as an employer is that even if I feel installing an extra rail on he ceiling of the trailer to clip a harness on to is adequate protection. There is no guarantee that the site will accept that and the sites rules may not allow it.
HSE won’t be happy until we risk assess every site we plan to visit ffs.
Summary: don’t blame the forkies they have just been told company policy, which in turn was probably set by someone who doesn’t know which end the lorry is which.

You’re stone cold wrong there. Yes the HSE set the rules but it’s the companies that misinterpret and overreact to those rules, usually at the middle management arse grubbing level.
I’ve had the dubious pleasure of a formal interview by the HSE and it certainly didn’t come across, either under caution or informally that they are encouraging companies to continue implementing more and more ridiculously overbearing policies.

Of course its the companies fault! Even contemplating putting an extra rail on a curtainsider for a harness and talk of fall arrest systems equates to being brainwashed with H&S BS. As for working at height, how about the days of roping and sheeting, climbing on loads to secure ect, we’re all still here…
