Moral question

Bearing in mind the OP was contacted twice in quick succession by the TM with allegations of the vehicle being not ready for the road I’d suggest that the firm may well have some evil sods working there who may have planted the empty can to incriminate a driver not in the “elite” clique. Just another possibility!! :bulb: :bulb:

I’d take that a different way. I would be thinking that the driver had talked to some of his closest colleagues(as any of us would), about the knob TM, bearing in mind they’d argued and the driver had been stood down for the day, and that his colleagues were trying to instill into the management that the temp replacement was a total incompetent, thus trying to make their colleague look better, in their eyes.

As for the Can of Stella issue, well you only have a can, I would bin it and let sleeping dogs lie, if I was to bump into the driver by chance, I’d tell him to be careful what he leaves in the truck for other to find  but that’s as far as I would go with that.

If I saw any driver at the start or during a shift, who was under the influence then I would sound the alarm bells :open_mouth: .

As for having drink in the cab, especially as a tramper its fine, I don’t drink during the week myself, but thats because I’m a miserable unsociable ■■■■■■■■ but I fully understand wanting to enjoy a cool beer to unwind at the end of the day, as I do the same at the end of the week.

Who needs a nanny state, when you have a nanny workforce :unamused: .

If I saw any driver at the start or during a shift, who was under the influence then I would sound the alarm bells :open_mouth: .

changed days indeed from when you parked up,got bladdered senseless, wandered out of the social club,or baghouse in a semi conscious daze, colapsed into the bunk before vomiting out of the window for a Cpl hours kip before heading offski whilst sobering up en route…tsk tsk tsk…oh the good old days.where has the cameradri all gone…? :open_mouth:

…I’ve got 3 cans of Stella in my fridge. OBVIOUSLY got a drink problem…Jeez H :unamused:

I’ve got three cans in my fridge too. I must have a drink prob. I will be posting my company details so i can get grassed up as well

I love the fact that you both simply choose to ignore the fact that you’re both trampers and have beer in your fridges for when you’re parked up and off duty, yet the OP has clearly stated on more than one occasion that it is a builders merchants day wagon and the only time one’s arse would be on the seat is during the course of a working shift.

I’m not getting into the whole “would I / wouldn’t I” thing, that’s for me and me alone to decide and to make judgement on, [zb] what you lot think I make my own choices and I don’t seek anyones approval on those choices, all I am saying is stop twisting and manipulating arguments to bolster and elevate your opinions, you just end up making yourselves look retarded!

Right now thats said I’m off down the pub [zb] you all!

Ok, but if you had quoted my post fully, which made suggestions of explanation as to why the builders truck guy may have had the can in his cab in the first place, rather than edit it to the point only, where I was addressing an accusation put to me, therefore taking my post out of context, just to suit your point :bulb: , …it would not have looked… ‘retarded’ , as you put it, at all would it mate :bulb:
Not only that but you accuse me of twisting and manipulating points to elevate my opinions, then go on to do just that yourself in your post, by said editing.
Enjoy your pint

Not being funny buddy but I don’t see how “how much” of your comment I post or edit makes any difference to your actual original point, I haven’t edited out your original post and people can still scroll back and read its full content if that’s what they wish to do, It’s there in black and white and the only person that can post-edit that (other than forum moderators) is you.

I use the quote post feature to HIGHLIGHT the point I wish to comment on, not to make my own post look better, this forum is a calamity when it comes to people just continually quoting and pyramid quoting and it makes the forum look like a right bloody mess, just look how many posts are quotes of an attached image yet all that shows in the quote is

example:

or something, and then there’s the whole wall of quotes within quotes within quotes that are on some pages, but that is par for the course when you have a social media platform with a subject (in this case trucks) that caters to such a varied age demographic, some people are tech savvy with computers, the internet and social media sites and others still stare blankly at the VCR remote wondering how the hell to fastforward the adverts, you’re having a pop at me for using and editing the quote function the way it was actually designed to be used.

Ok let’s take a look at what I HIGHLIGHTED again…

robroy:
Btw…I will pm you all my firms no, so all the self righteous can grass me up.
…I’ve got 3 cans of Stella in my fridge. OBVIOUSLY got a drink problem…Jeez H :unamused:

Well I’m sorry bud but this part of your post is twisting and manipulating the original point in my opinion, I can’t change that no matter how it gets edited, sorry.

Maybe it looks diferent if I quote your whole post then…

robroy:
Ffs
Why do you all jump to the conclusion the guy has a drink problem.
It sounds like an old woman’s gossip forum. :unamused:

Maybe he was given it for helping somebody out, maybe he planned to give it to somebody to say thanks, maybe he found the [zb] thing…who [zb] knows…who cares.
Next time you see him ■■■■■■ getting into his cab then think about doing something.
Until then keep your [zb] beaks out.

Btw…I will pm you all my firms no, so all the self righteous can grass me up.

Even in its full context I still fail to see how your point about having beers in a trampers fridge is akin to a can being in a day cab?

I’m not trying to have a pop at you and I’m not into the whole oneupmanship that people like to get into on these forum to and fro posts, perhaps I shouldn’t have used the word retarded and if that’s what offended you then I’m sorry and I apologise for that, my point however, still stands.

robroy:
Enjoy your pint

It was a joke actually, I don’t drink any more, haven’t for a good few years, but I did used to carry a few stubbys in my fridge when I was tramping, but please do enjoy yours

Ok mate, but I still stand by what I say.
My post was in 2 parts if you like, firstly trying to put another slant on why the guy had a can in his cab, other than people jumping to the knee jerk reaction of him having a drink problem, then a response to some old woman type who implied that anybody who carried a drink in their cab (me) had a drink problem…that did ■■■■ me yeh.
If he differentiated between trampers and day men, then maybe you have a point, it is that long ago I can’t remember and I aint trawling back through, but if I am wrong, then I stand corrected, and I have no intention of editing it as you suggest, as it aint that important tbh.
We could do a Carryfastesque 12 page analysis if you wish  , but I, …as am sure you also, could not be arsed. As I stand by what I posted so nothing will be gained on either side.
Thanks for the apology on the retarded crack btw.

No problem, I meant it… (the apology not the retarded comment that is)

Yeah, I know what you are saying, but I’m afraid the days of just getting away with it are long gone. Want have a few beers at the end of the day fine by me, want to get slaughtered, drop in the sack at 2am, and then roll at 5am sorry, but it just aint right any more. I’m pretty liberal in my opinions, such as totally disagreeing with the smoking ban, and the fact drivers aren’t allowed to smoke in the cab, that’s wrong especially for a tramper, never used to be an issue, and most smokers respected non smokers cabs, now it just seems a whole lot more confrontational :unamused:

But there has to be some lines, and in the good old days, if you rolled up to the yard still half ■■■■■■ form the night before, as often as not, the gaffer would send you home with a kick up the arse and no pay for the day. So it wasn’t all that different back then only that what happened up the road stayed up the road, but these are different times.

And maybe it should be thought of a different way, if a driver rolls of his bunk after a couple of hours kip, still carrying the effects of the session the night before, and then has a serious accident in which other people die or have life changing injuries, then that driver would be looking at a decent stretch at her majesties pleasure, so to stop him, could be the biggest favour any one could do him
