In my short time in driving i have come across a few drivers and had a good old chin wag with them, but why do they always have to mention how much there getting?
Reason why i have started this topic is because i had come across a driver today who told me he get’s £800 to £900 a week on class 1. I just played a long with him as you do, and got on with the job, but why do they have to mention how much is in the bank at the end of the week

Because as we all know he is on nowhere that but doesn’t want to feel inadequate, had a similar discussion years ago on the tunnel guy asked what I earned I told him his reply “I wouldn’t get out of bed for that” no problem but I have my bills all paid by the second week of the month and the rest is mine to spend as I please he couldn’t get anywhere near that. Wages are relative I live in a cheap part of the country so my wages go a lot further if you feel the need to brag about your wages then check your ■■■■■ size because the more you brag the smaller it gets!!!

People that brag are just dreamers.
I can clear £800 in 1/2 days in my trade without doing stupid hours and away all week but i don’t brag about.
Long as your happy and can pay your bills etc, I’m no happier now than when i was being a driver.

Should of asked for a number so you could ring for a job, I can’t be doing with lies,i always ask em to prove it with a wage slip,but alas they never have one to hand 
I used to find the same when I was taxi driving. There was always the driver earning twice as much as you in half the time 
My wage pays the bills. I even get slightly more then what i got in my last job. I am happy, wifes happy.
I do chuckle to myself though to the people who have to lie about how much they get. As soon as i hear the ‘i get this’ i switch off and think of Kate Ramsey in neighbours.
I can not see the obsession with why everyone wants to know how much everyone else gets paid. I’m happy enough with my wage I work hard for it but have a comfortable lifestyle I’m never gonna buy a house with a swimming pool but I’m never gonna need to live in a caravan. I think asking someone what they get paid I’d rude. I get asked all the time and the lads at local firms have known me since I was 18
I’ve worked for the same place since, I’m 26 and get called nipper still so when they ask me and after they’ve bs about what there on I tell em all the same I’m only a nipper and haven’t passed my apprentaship yet so I only earn £100 a week that shuts most off em up but more worryingly some accept it as gospel!

The reason lorry drivers like to mention their (normally exaggerated) wages in conversations like the one you had Micky is because they are social inadequates.
Essentially, how else are you are you going to establish how clever and experienced you are? Especially, while talking to a driver from another firm who is doing a similar job.
Only a moron would tell you commercially sensitive details about their job (company wages being a chuffing big detail).
I recommend that you grit your teeth while you listen to the fantasies of the un~brained and in the unlikely event that he asks you what your wages are, just tap your nose in a conspiratorial manner and say
'that would be telling mate… ’

Money don’t make you happier. You just waste more on things you don’t really need.
It matters not a bit how much anybody earns or wether they drive a 900 hp truck on local light work, as long as you earn enough then alls good and it’s nobody’s business apart from yours what you earn so just tap ya nose and wander off with a sly smile on ya face, wether your on 350 or 600p/w. 
although saying that I’m obviously on the latter.
All this carp about wages is sometimes followed by 'Well,this ain’t my normal motor,mine’s in for MOT.Or,I’m only sat in this RDC talking to an inferior being because my next load to Marocistan isn’t ready yet.
