kingfisher models do 1:50 scale seddon atkinson kits
nice work goaty, and on posting a photo on this bloody site
i wouldn’t like to add up the dosh i’ve spent over the years, and i STILL only have about 40 completed models - doesn’t help when you’ll send off for a complete and sometimes expensive model from europe or the US just to get the particular drive hubs or some other small part off it
Ok this is the first time I’ve looked at this thread and I’m impressed.
I collect 1/50 scale of trucks from the 50,60 70’s, the problem I have is not many of the 8 wheelers come with a drawbar trailers even though I know for a fact that Motor Packing ran drawbars on there 8 leggers, I know because I used to go in there in the 50’s with my Dad, but where can I buy a seperate drawbar trailer from with the single tyres common in the 50’s early 60’s.
finally dragged this out the loft, needs work but i think im changing the body to a scania heavy haulage monster, mayby a t cab or something.

hat off to you mate, i have enough trouble trying to keep my foot and my hand coordinated whilst singing along to a tune in the truck!..
I bet the neighbours love you when you start bashing on that!
drumming and driving are like second nature to me these days. though if im unsure about something with an artic or a truck ill ask somebody more experienced i wont bash on without knowing what im doing.
as for drum i studied at the academy fo contemporary music in guildford, if you watched last chior standing then you will know the place, couple of folk in my class are in that chior. played drums along side the likes of chad smith from the chillis, mike sturgis from aha and got taught by pete riley from republica. im not as good as i used to be though, driving stopped practice for a while but im slowly getting better.
my neighbours havnt complained once in 7+ years of me playing but ive been lucky i spose.
Awesome pics hard to believe that they are only models! Postman Paul, them Volvos look awesome mate! Really like the F10 with the top pod.

More Cow Bell !!!
Right then, thanks to you lot I have now got the bug and ordered myself a model (I have bought one of the fridges off SB139 and ordered a Volvo off ebay This One
And I feel it is going to cost me a small fortune to get all that I may need to get started.
I have been this afternoon and bought some basics (a few paints (matt silver, matt white and black gloss in enamel paint is this ok or should I have got the other paints?), different size brushes from thick to tiny (went for the mid price range ones as you get what you pay for dont you?, thinners, some poly cement and a tube of precision poly cement), I already have a very sharp precision knife in my tool box and was wondering if there is anything else I will need before starting to attempt my model when it arrives? I am guessing I will need a few small pots of some more colours (red and orange for the lights and indicators) what other colours will I need at a guess? i intend to do the unit white with a purpleish livery and keep it pretty basic at the moment.
Now a few ‘stupid’ questions
I take it that it is better to paint it before assembling it, what is the easiest way to do it smallest brush first and work your way up?
What do you do if you get too much glue on it?
How do you do the number plates and livery?
What about the interior? Is it worth giving that a coat of paint before putting it in? Does it look too bad if you don’t?
Do you need to put lacquer on the model to get the shine on it or will the paints be ok?
The reason I ask all this is the last time I made a model was about 15 years ago and it was mainly planes and tanks and the like and the shiny bits or detail didn’t really matter to me but it does now as I want to make a good job of it.
Many thanks for your answers in advance
Lee
