thanks for the old T + D pages derva, remember reading them when i was a lad…
Pete, where did you get the seddon cab? do they do a sleeper of the 400 series? and costs? i’d love to do one for me dad too, havein said that he did drive a seddon drawbar back in the seventies… hmm!! any help greatly appreciated!
james
james the seddon was bought from here www.kitformservices.com. look on the left hand side and click on tq range. cab started off as a 401 sleeper, just a case of cutting it down to a day cab, squaring off the wings and making a 400 series grill, think the seddon kit has sold out though howard may be producing another batch. you would also need a donor kit (italeri/revell fh12). hope this helps mate…pete
Hi Carl and all,
They are 1:24 scale italeri kits hope that clears things up for you.Paul
Thanks wirralpete! now thats sorted my next problem… i’d like a 4x2 chassis with a curtainside body?? any ideas anyone?
if its a curtainsder rigid, you can also by the materials to build your own body from KFS, there is an article in truck model world magazine written by howard (owner of KFS), cant remember which editions they where in. basically he was building a rigid curtainsder and showed how to build the box then using solartrex for the curtains. if its a curtainsider trailer your looking for italeri have a schitmz curtainsider kit…pete
Not quite the same league as scratch building, but here is a Code3 project which I’ve nearly finshed
It originally looked like one of these
Still needs a wee bit done on it to finish it off. Then I can finish my DAF beavertail
As well as being retired trucker I build a few truck models (about 5 and 3 trailers so far ) although I seem to spend so much time on here I dont build many,I think the sign of a good model is when you look at it and think is it real or is it a model.
Truck Model World . com is i think the only uk Truck Modeller magazine in UK but really first class £.3.50 or cheaper if you subscribe,
`Kit Form Services,M&G Mouldings,G.B scale Trucks,Kingdom Trucks, you will get all these on Google(sorry cant do links) but all are very good and you can get links from these also.
There are also quite a few on Yahoo,
Model Truck Discusions and Dutch Model Truck Club
and lots more if you search.
Hope this is of some help, give me a mail if I can give any more help.
Regards derek
Sorry guys forgot to say some real good trucks in the post. Thanks and regards derek
derek any chance of a look at your models mate?..i like the code 3 volvo, lets keep this thread going peeps…
i think it deserves its own forum with tips on kits and model making from the more exsperienced modelers for the novices im thinking about making some meself because of this thread
nice to see your thinking of buying a model kit dreva, italeri do a nice 105 xf ssc if your interested…
colingl…is that roro volvo 1:50 scale,it does look very good.have tried to build them in the past but i have no patience and want to finish them in 5 mins.plus i have hands the size o dinner plates.
I had some truck models in T&D as well as Truckstar (dutch mag) sometime in the 80’s.
I still have most of them, although they are all in bits now being worse for wear after several house moves.
I also have loads of kits still in boxes from the 80’s,never got round to starting them, and they’ll probably stay there too what with shaky hands and failing eyesight!

It is mate, but I let Corgi do all the hardwork for me.
All I did was remove the tipper body, then cut, file, grind, drill and swear until the hook loader sat flush on the chassis. The hook loader is a Tekno kit btw.

well they look better than they drive
your not wrong mate, mines an 06 xf with auto, pain in the bum…
I like the RAR Globetrotter, the detail is amazing, the interior is 99% accurate, the floor mats, the bin on the side of the seat & the towel on the door are spot on, the only thing that lets it down is that the kettle isn’t dented
Well done that man
Hi, I am building a transport scene (Road/Rail end of '60s ish) It is a slow process though but I have been buying/making models for some time now when time allows! Nothing as grand as these on here I must add, mine are only in 4mm scale. I have now started chopping a few, fitting different cabs and company colours etc. Researching for this was how I found this site about a week ago and have been reading it ever since and now there is even a thread on modelling I did drive lorrys in the '60s then had about ten years out before running a few rigids in the '70s/80s/90s, so these little 'un are enough now.
I will be asking a lot of questions later I expect so hope I dont get too annoying.
Here are a few pics of some I made in the 80’s,mostly built straight out of the box.
This MAN is a model of the one I drove for Goodways.
This one also had a matching drwabar trailer
This one stood in the reception of Nedlloyd UK office in Felixstowe
Brinor F12 I built…
…and a pic of the real thing…
