This Lad is GOOD you can’t fault his models from the real thing !! I was privileged to have him make a model of a Bewick R112 a while ago, great. Cheers Bewick.
small bit of diorama to do then she’s finished then she can join her sister
Good result there Gerry, got to be happy with that…
Jeff…
I recently found out that Peter White had stepped down from Editor of Truck Model World, he is a smashing bloke and I hope he now has time to concentrate on his own models which like me were from the Classics era. He did a fantastic job ever since the release of the magazine, I can remember buying the first copy many years ago which was only available from a Truck Stop until Smiths started to sell them later on. The magazine certainly did a lot for modeler’s of Commercial Vehicles and had a large following, I have all copies up until a couple of years ago when I had a change of hobby and also felt there was little of interest for my era of builds in the magazine or the Forum, this also coincided with KFS having a change of policy towards the Truck items he produced which also affected my builds. Good luck to Peter, one day I will have a good look through the old mags and some of the excellent models and articles they contained. Franky.
Hi franky, totally agree with you there. Have you hopped over to ‘truckmodelworld.net’ ? Peter still visits I think, mind you I think he has probably viewed this thread on this forum too at some point! It is going to see weird not having Peter around running the show that’s for sure, irreplaceable!
Thanks, stew.
Right I’m back on track with my kit, I’ve got the cab and trailer painted and I’m happy with the results, but I want to put a roof rack and air hirns on the top of the cab and the glue I’m using won’t stick painted surfaces together. It’s one of the liquid brush on types and if I do run the brush over paint it absorbs the paint and makes the glue dirty.
So what glue can I use?
Oh and I attacked the crossmembers on the body with my “honestly I need one of these according to the modelers on trucknet” new dremel, it sits much better now.
I use superglue for those sort of painted parts, better if you can get a low odour/bloom type that doesn’t discolour the paint.
Thank you, I was thinking that way, but wasn’t sure if it would react with the paint.
Hi new mercman that is looking rather good mate, well done!
Great kits these, nice colour scheme, looking forward to seeing it finished!
Cheers, stew.
Thanks mate, I’m pleased with how it’s coming along. I’m considering chopping the chassis down to make it more UK spec, the kit has a LWB and it’s not quite the right look for what I’m trying to achieve.
I’ve got a long way to go and now my wife, bless her, has decided that we’re painting my office, so it’s put the kybosh on my plans for the next couple of days
I was in Lidl Saturday, they had display cabinets for sale, i think there was 10 shelves in the case, £60 each or 2 for £100, not sure how long they are there for thou.
very nice the trailer looks fantastic
Thanks, there’s a long way to go yet, I’m making a belly tank and some boxes for it next, then I’ve got to sort out wheels and tyres as I’m not using the ones in the kit. Then I’ve got to sort out a livery for it. I’m still going for a M/E flavor as I want to weather it eventually as in my mind that just got back from a trip is the best look a lorry can ever have.
I have no affiliation to any particular company and it isn’t a tribute, I have an idea, but I’m also thinking less is more, most of the overland lorries I saw were not sign written at all.

araldite is handy for sticking stuff on once its painted as it dries clear(dont know what its called in america-any two part epoxy should do),mix it up and apply it sparingly with a cocktail stick
the tilt trailor looks the ■■■■■■■■ !!
Nice colour scheme!
