Thanks Torun, I’m a bit busy trucking this week, so no modeling for me, still only another 4000kms to go…then I can turn around and come home…

Hi All here’s another I’ve finished not long ago for a friend of mine Steve Cherrett ex M/E driver hope you like, for this I used KFS F88/89 resin kit, italer Volvo F12 for chassis engine g/box and suspension, trailer was a Heller tilt kit which was originally a tri axle so another kit was used ( italeri container kit )to make it a spread axle tandem which at the time I was struggling to get anything with a spread axle but now Italeri has rereleased their new Tandem Fridge we can all enjoy the spread axle chassis again!!
The trailer came as one of the steel front headboard tilts with rear barn doors which I converted to tilt front with the rear doors binned for an open rear tilt cover made from tin foil, my first attempt at this kind of thing, so 4 kits in all.
My next build that I’m already on is an Iveco Turbostar with a Tanker !!
Regards Jimski
That is fantastic, how much would something like that cost to buy if you dont mind me asking, cant be cheap,if its between you and the person you built it for i understand,it must be a good few hundred quid in time alone
Jimmer… WOW
Yet another brilliant model…they just get better and better.
Well done Jimmer…I bet Steve was chuffed.
Wow all them little details really make a difference
Many Thanks to you all,
Hi Seth all depends on how much you really want one this one took best part of 3 months not every day of course but a lot of hours !
Regards Jimmer
Well it’s definitely looking a lot better than my F12, which I managed to work on this weekend as my hours wouldn’t have allowed me to get to my delivery on time, so my 4400km trip stopped half way at the yard.
I had a complete disaster, and when I say disaster, I mean it.
I wanted a white roof, so I flattened the blue with wet & dry, got a lovely surface ready for the paint. Went to the shed, got the first two coats on and it was looking good, I put on the final coat and let it dry all day.
Then yesterday evening I went to retrieve it, but it wasn’t what I was expecting, the paint finish was unmarked, but it had come apart, the right side cab panel had come away from the front, rear and roof panels. The big problem was that it had not come apart at the joins, the part that meets the roof had a dirty great big piece of roof still attached to it.
I tried piecing it back together, but it wasn’t happening. So in the bin it went
I am now going to buy the second F12 kit from the model shop, at least I’ll have some spare parts for it…

Put the new cab on the old chassis then you could use the new chassis parts for a trans kit

Yeah, thought of that, I may just start from scratch, we’ll see, on the plus side, I got my extra fuel tank sorted now

Blimey NMM what happened mate?? The paint wouldn’t have split the plastic ■■?
Jimmer
It was going so well could you not use the cab for a spare parts lorry for your yard
I don’t know mate, the white was the same brand as the blue and the primer, that hasn’t caused problems elsewhere and it’s all covered in a few coats of one colour or the other.
I’ve decided to start from scratch now, I can get it exactly how I want it from the start now. I was happy with the chassis in a that’s good enough for a first build, but now I have the opportunity to do it again I’m going to put a bit more effort into the engine colour and the bits and bobs on it, filters, belts etc.
I’ve also got all the bits I need for my twin tank conversion and the basis for my junkyard dog if I ever get around to my yard diorama.

I don’t care what people form CZ say, that’s a cracker Jimmer, you must be keeping H in business buying all those F88’s, I have one in the stash, I’ll have to dig it out when I have time.
NNM what went wrong there. I’ve notice that on some Iteleri cabs the plastic round the window apertures is sometimes a bit thin. All I can come up with is that the thinners in the paint ate though the thin area. Take a photo of it and send it to Italeri, they might do something for you. If you bung Italeri into google it’ll come up, there’s an English translation on their site, just click the flag…
When you order the new wheels from Howard have a look at the F88 trans kits ( better get in there quick before Jimmer buys them all )
Jeff

Hi Jeff thanks mate, I think I’ve got another two 88 kits left, but will get another one just to keep ahead if the mould gets dodgy !! was always my favourite truck back in the day !
The build I’m on at the mo is an Iveco Turbostar and tanker. Nice kit to build !
R Jimmer
Jeff it was the roof section itself that went, it looked like something had bitten a chunk out of it.
Too late for photos as I threw it in the bin.
I bought the other F12 kit and picked up the accessories kit yesterday, bought a different cement and a brush to apply it.
I used automotive rattle cans, specifically VW colours and a generic Greg primer. Everything else is still rock solid, so I don’t think the paint was the problem.
I’m not that ■■■■■■ off to be honest, I had regrets that I painted everything red anyway, I can now do the engine in factory colour and spend a bit more time on the details. I also have my extra fuel tank and the accessories kit, so I can build this one exactly how I want it straight out of the box. And as I said, I’ve got a chassis made up for my old snotter for when I do my yard scene diorama in the distant future.
However if this build goes the same way I will be taking a hammer to the lot and taking up golf instead
