Good to see you guys have been getting on with things. Nice stuff there CWM very clean builds. That Scania and tanker is coming on a treat Gerry.

Jeff…

cheers jeff

Cheers , (2) , , Jeff.

Nice work there lads.

Well I got the phone call I’ve been waiting for, my splead axle tilt (it came from Japan) has arrived, I should be home tomorrow and I ain’t planning on going anywhere until Sunday at the earliest, so I’ll have some time on my hands, I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in again.

When you have a look at it you’ll find that the body sits on top of the chassis like a container. It’s an easy job to lower it.
Set the body up side down on the chassis and mark where it sits on the cross members, cut the cross members so the chassis sits on the under side of the floor. I think you have to cut the big cross members at the front and rear as well.
The whole job takes about 10 minutes, remember to change the hubs as well as they’ll be reduction hubs.

Have fun

Jeff…

ps When you get a bit older I’ll show you how to build a real tilt…

Nice one newmercman looking forward to seeing it

I have a collection for sale mixture of irish and uk about 100 want to sell as a job lot if anyone interested(n.ireland)

Are they 1.50 scale

So I picked up my tilt today, not what I expected at all, I’m going to have to make some serious modifications to get it anywhere close to what I want the finished article to look like.

I think future tilts will have to be scratch built, I am thinking that a simple 40’ skelly would donate chassis rails and axles and the rest will come from my imagination and skills that I’m yet to aquire.

However as I’m a glass half full kind of bloke, I think my first attempt at that will be a step frame, in for a penny…

A bit of help for your future builds forum.truckmodelworld.com/yaf_po … -Tilt.aspx

Cheers, the kit I have is not that great tbh, the side panels are all warped, so getting it all square is going to be… interesting…

My next models getting one too so aleast I know not to buy the same kit as you did

It’s workable, but I’ve just tacked it together and it looks like it’s had a hard life, all twisted and wonky. Adds to the authenticity of a M/E trailer I suppose lol

Maybe italeri made it to be like a Russian or eastern European one . Did you ever get the tanks started

No I’ve been out earning a crust, my last trip was 11days so I’ve got some catching up to do. First I’ve got to fix my sprinkler system, a bloody pipe has split so I’m dusting off my Donkey Jacket

I can see this tilt giving me a load of aggro, much like every tilt I’ve ever come across

One good thing has come of it though, I wanted to change the exhaust on the Volvo and I’ve already used some of the stuff the bits of tilt are stuck to (sprues?) With a bit of heat from a lighter, and I’ve got that ready to put together, then I can relocate the air tanks under the batteries where they would be on a unit with mega diesel tanks.

Now where’s my shovel…

Glad I don’t have a garden

If you bung the warped panels in hot water About 70c you can straighten them out, The Heller Scania 141 is famous for it.

I’ve built a couple of step frame tilts NNM if you need advice just sing out.

I recognise that post, there’s a better one called "How to …foil tilt " I think it was in in the Help and tips section…

Jeff

Jeff, as a complete novice I don’t know what advice I need, so the more the merrier. I can pick out the bits I need and store the rest for later.
