MODEL TRUCKS

Scania T Cab artic , Scania 6 wheeler rigid , and a A.E.C. Marshal , all in the livery of R.E. Shuttleworth,
Cowan Bridge , Lancashire .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Nice livestock lorries R.E. Shuttleworth probably one of Englands best livestock fleets

You are correct there , " Irish Lorries". The family have always taken pride in their fleet.

I constructed the cattle body to replicate the one fitted to the A.E.C., which Ted Shuttleworth bought new in 1968/9 .
A Corgi chassis was used , repainted accordingly , and the correct waterslide transfers applied to the cab.

The finished model was a surprise gift for Ted on his 85 th. birthday last month.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Very very nice CWM I bet he loved it !! I’ve had some emotional moments when I’ve handed over a model of some one’s truck in which they have covered hundreds of thousands of miles in, lived in, slept in, cooked in, it’s been their business, homes for many years, and a model is better than any photo !!
and brings back so many memories to these drivers.
Regards Jimski.

I get what you mean that’s why I want to make a f7 cartransporter in the future

The only way around the emotional side of presenting of such a model is to build two alike at the same time !
The twin can then be displayed at Model Shows , often gaining surprise looks and admiration when seen by other former drivers.

I remember Ted proudly putting the new A.E.C. on the road , and saw it at many Auction Marts during its working life.
He was very proud of his first brand new wagon.

The model was only just completed before Ted`s birthday , - receiving only the one photo 5 weeks earlier. :unamused:
The bewildered chap was at a loss for words on presentation, as he was the only one unaware.

A very worthy recipient for his 50 years in haulage.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

That’s a lovely model Roy real professional look about it the float body is spot on. Eddie.

Hi Eddie ,
Thanks for the kind comment.

For comparison to the completed model , this is the photograph I was handed by the family.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Who’s body was it CWM ? and are you going to build Roly a model of his new Retreiver now you are creeping about down Furness ? Cheers Dennis.PS excellent work ! so don’t give up your day job just yet !!

To quote Blue Peters well-known saying :, " Heres one I made earlier" !

RTD 123 C was indeed M.E. Saunders & Sons most famous Leyland. No doubt , youd remember it. Could it match the Brady Octopus
on reliability of pulling power ? Both had the 0.600 engine , but different final drive gearing.

The cattle body for this , and Ted Shuttleworth`s A.E.C. were made by Ambrose Fox , Lancaster.

Thanks for your kind comments , …and,…yes …I`ll keep my day job for a while longer. :unamused:

When you see the build quality of the above livestock body that’s when the experience of actually having worked with them shows I only did about 3 loads of livestock so if I had built that there would have been a lot less detail in it and that is what make the difference it just gives them the real look.

My apologies CWM,I remembered afterwards that you had indeed built a model of Roly’s Retriever, however your not getting away with it altogether ! you only have one out of three of the engines correct ! Saunders Retriever would have had the 600 engine but Shutty’s Marshal would have had the AEC 505 engine, and wait for it --------the Brady Octopus had the 680 Power Plus engine and the heavy diffs.See, you still need a bit of techno help from time to time  Cheers Dennis.

nearly finished now still a bit to do,

I hope irish lorries doesnt see the stateline scania in the cabinet,he will be after that one off you

Hello CWM,

If you don’t mind me asking, where do you get the transfers made up, & how do you communicate the design to the printer?

I’m planning to do a diecast conversion of an AEC myself…

Thanks in advance,

Andrew.
