I’m going to try a few of the ideas on the interior
Me too.
Maybe the grill too
I’m planning to do the light bezels and lower grille white, or maybe dark blue, as yet undecided. I’ve done them and the bumper in red so the background color is right. I’m keeping the bumper red as I never liked those alloy bumpers on the Volvos.
I have a picture in my head of the color I’m going for white roof black cab red chassis green engine white bumper around bezels red lower grill white keeping rims gray roof rack red interior black brown and tan maybe a wee fleg in the cab
I’m not planning on getting too deep into the interior, the center of the dash will be black rather than brown as it comes in the kit, the bottom bunk needs bedding and the top bunk will be angled up as it has been in every twin bunk lorry I’ve ever driven.
If all goes to plan my windows will be filthy anyway as it will be in just got back from a trip condition, so you won’t see much through them.
I’m going to put my air tanks under the batteries and move it all tight to the mudguard as I’ll need room for the tanks I’m going to attempt to knock up to keep Jeff happy I’ll use the existing silencer, but hang it off the chassis with the tail pipe exiting in front of the back wheels like the Cloggies and Danes did when they fitted their kitchen boxes, although my needs are for large quantities of red diesel rather than food.

I ordered that last week mate
So have i
Nice one, I only want the roof rack, spot lights and air horns for the F12 but I’m sure the other bits will come in handy in the future.
I’m planning on making my own fuel tanks from scratch, I know there’s another round tank in there, but the big square tanks were always a favourite with the overland boys, so I’ll attempt to do my own, you’ll know how it turns out by what shape the tanks are when I’m done
I’m only using a few parts for the f12 the rest are for my next few kits
I am going to make a new grill because I don’t want the badge in the middle and I want it to look more realistic
Wow, that ain’t going to be easy!
I’m going to take my time with it I want it to be like the one on this f12 want to make it different to the kit like your doing with the fuel tanks
Got logged into truck model world
That one is a very late hi line, which is why it wears the later grille without the badge. I know this because I am a nerd
The big give away is that it has the mirrors off the facelifted F series and the arms are a lot closer to the cab, that puts it at about 87/88 as the square headlight model came out in 88.
I briefly drove an E reg F12 with that mirror set up and it was crap with a tilt as you couldn’t see down alongside the trailer, not much fun in a RHD in Italy I must say.
Here ya go Irishlorries, an old flat top with the later grille and front flap.
Notice the air tanks are mounted front to back and not side to side like in the kit.

Hi NMM how’s it going? Hope your enjoying the build ! Looking at that pic I first thought it looked like an old F88 pirimid 3 set up but can’t quite make it out at that angle, is that a pic of the model your doing?
R Jimmer
Alright Jimmer, that’s just a pic of the later grille on a flat top for Irishlorries as he wants to fabricate his own grille.
The air tanks don’t make sense like that, unless there are four although that’s how they’re set up on the one in the italeri link that he put on the other day.
I can’t remember what the set up was on the one I had, I’m planning on putting mine under the batteries to make more room for diesel tanks.
That’s mostly what I’ve done lately too, planning
I’m out earning a crust now so nothing else is getting done until I get back home, whenever that is…
