Thanks, but I’ve already got a can of Cardinal Red, I’m just putting the finishing touches on the chassis now, all the steering parts and brackets etc.
Can I leave things like the battery box cover, rear wings etc off when I prime it as I don’t want them to be red, as I’m using rattle cans everything that’s stuck on now will end up red and there’s quite a few bits that will be black in the end. So will the glue stick painted surfaces?
You have done alot more than me haven’t been near it in 4 days
I’m on a mission
Do you have much time to do it
Just found out I don’t have to leave until tomorrow evening, so I’m going for it, we’ll see how far I get…
Not too bad I’m off all week but have to get the turf down so don’t know how much time I will have
I’m about ready to put the primer on now.
Have you ever used primer before
Jesus you got the cab build too
Told you I was on a mission
As it turns out I can see where the more seasoned builders put in the time, my effort is put together, but there are parts that could’ve used a little more finesse and attention to detail.
This is a learning curve and I am going to buy the other F12 in the model shop as my next project after completing this one (& its trailer) and I will spend a little bit more time on each different assembly on the next one.
One thing I have realized is that lighting is very important, a few modelling tools would be useful for the more delicate parts too.
I’m enjoying it though and that’s the main thing…
I had the cab together and had it painted but I left it on the table to dry but the f*****g dog run in and hit the table and it fell and the paint was a mess
and it came apart and the back got broke a bit so I am going to have to get the paint and the glue off the parts fix the back and glue it back together spay it with primer spay it with paint and keep the dog away from it this time.
There’s a tip for you newmercman make sure if you have a dog or children to keep it away from them.
I have both, but they all know that “I’m busy” means ■■■■ off and leave me alone
I’ve just put the second coat of colour on the cab and chassis.
Good job we don’t play table tennis anymore as the green surface is not very green anymore
Four coats now, I’m happy with the chassis and all the red bits, the blue is a bit flat, so a coat of clear will be necessary, I was hoping to avoid that as I don’t want it too shiny.
I’m wondering if a coat of black after the primer would be a good idea, I’ve only just covered it to a depth I’m happy with on the fourth coat?
Here’s the story so far, the interior is done and ready to slot in, once I paint the middle bit of the dash black, still got a way to go yet with all the little touch ups, but I’m a lot further ahead than I expected.
Flamin’ Eck NNM you’re certainly on a mission. Looks good though, It looks like your having fun…even if it puts the rest of us to shame…
Get you’re small brush out and go over the inlet and exhaust manifold with light gray, when it’s dry go over the exhaust with brown matte (rust ). If you stipple the rust on rather then brush it on you’ll get a better effect.
For the filter it would be either white for genuine Volvo. orange for Fram, or Green for Crosslands.
Have a look at Kit Forum Service site you’ll find lots of goodies there… tax disks, and MOT plates for the trailer, all the right wheels and tires as well. Loads of things that you never knew you needed as well…
Once you get the clear on the cab and it’s dry, get a black Sharpie ( with a bullet nose ) and got round the window rubbers.
Jeff…
Some great models lads attention to detail is fantastic good to see more photos keep up the good work. Eddie.
Irish Lorries get some 600 wet and dry and sand the bad bit of paint, it’ll probably only take a few minutes, but it’ll be well worth it.
Most builder make mistake, it’s all a learning curve, and having fun.

Thanks but I was thinking 800 wet and dry or even just some plastic paint remover the cab is going white
Looks great so far newmercman but make sure not to put on too much clear coat in a colour that dark
