MODEL TRUCKS

Jimski:
Hi Newmercman I might just add that the tandem spread axle kits only came in two forms as Jeff said the Grubber kit and the 40’ container kit, but they are both getting difficult to get hold of, but do pop up on the Bay every now and again, don’t forget some of these kit are 25 years plus old !! That’s if you want a spread axle, there are a couple tri axle tilts on the Bay now.

Regards Jimski

I am sure that the Italeri widespread tandem semi-trailer was also available with an open dropside body.
This kit was quite rare, and therefore many modellers will be unaware of its existence.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Errr,…yeah ! :unamused:
It had 4 (?) moulded dropsides in 2 pairs , and with similar pieces for front and rear sections,…if you get my drift .
I think there was also an Italeri Scania 6 wheel rigid and drawbar trailer with same type bodywork.

Bl**dy Hell ,…that`s enough taxing of my brain for today . :unamused:

This is a long shot but does any one have a photo of a daf 105 chassis just to get some detail

Jeff I have just been having a good look at those ones that got burned, have you still got them, because have you seen what some o these ARTISTS put on display for an exhibition you could make a fortune with them. Arrange them in a neat pile and wait on the offers coming in for the latest piece of art. Eddie.

Yes but say you made them like that how much would you sell the man for

Right I’m going on eBay, I’ll let you know what I end up with.

be careful make sure to check the sellers history

I’m not going to buy anything from private sellers, shops only.

Oh well my first attempt was a miserable fail

Only found a couple of F12s and one was in England, it was a fortune and the other in Hong Kong and that seems a bit moody.

On the plus side I found some 143 streamlines (my fave lorry ever) and a 48 turbostar and I’ve owned both so future projects look promising.

I found trip axle tilts, black with a French livery, they will work behind the Scania and the big FIAT, looks like I’ll have to keep searching for the so far elusive spread axle.

I did find a few examples of the accessory bits and bobs, I will definitely be getting one of those to tart the F12 up.

Jimski, where did you find the 88/89 and 111/141 models? I would love to get one of each of those once I get in the groove, I was saying to a mate the other day that I would get the real things and do the classic road runs etc if I won the lottery, not much chance of that, but I could recreate my dream in 1/24

That was my thinking aswell, £15,000+ for the real thing or £60 for a model which has no running costs!

Heller make the 141 which is a common site on ebay, I bought one last week for £25 from ModelHobbies but they are a tricky model to make and the F88 is a resin transkit from Kit Form Services. For this you would need a Italeri Volvo chassis to put the F88 cab on, I think the transkit is about £70 and again not as simple as Jimski makes them look.

Again thanks lads, I had a butcher’s at that resin stuff, wow! I could easily become obsessed with all this attention to detail. I’m thinking about grabbing a couple of cheap car or whatever kits to develop my at the moment non existent skills as I’m getting some big ideas from all the stuff I’m seeings from you lot and I would like to do the lorry models properly from the start.

Living in Canada means that it’s not going to be cheap getting kits as most of the advanced stuff is European and on top of that I’ll have to wait a while for anything I get to arrive.

Also after seeing the quality of the stuff on here it seems a sacrilege to waste a good model on my ham fisted practice runs too.

Saying that, jumping in the deep end is how I usually do things, so I’m going to sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow, I am leaning towards ordering one and while it is being shipped I can mess around with something easier so I can at least get the basics right.

How long does it take to be approved

In the words of Derek Trotter, he who dares wins…

I’m ordering the F12, the accessory kit and Gruber tilt as soon as my computer finishes installing “important” updates.

I tried doing it on my phone, but I have to keep expanding the page and it’s a PITA.
