Mobile Speed Vans

Morning. Ive just recieved an Nip through the post stating i was doing 38 in 30mph Zone.
Blah blah i no we have heard it all before, but i was 100% not doing 38 or anywhere near it. Allow me to give you a short background:
I pulled onto road adjacent to the speed van, so spotted it. I drove down road the way it was facing and dropped a mile on down road. So i have seen the van at the Junction, facing down the hill. So i no its there. Ten minutes later i now go back up road towards his backdoors with windows open and gun etc, i no he is there, and i am purposely doing 26/27 mph. I am actually looking in mirrors at convey behind me getting frustrated, tailgatting me etc laughing thinking you’ll be thanking me in 10 seconds when you see it!
Further to this, i remember the day date etc very very well as i had my medical that morning!! I had to take the time off work! So im very very certain of the facts.
So long story short, i no i was not speeding. Has anyone had similar? I have mo points on my licence, so im not in danger of losing my job. I also no if you go to court you have to prove YOU were not speeding, and if you cannot am i right in thinking i get 6points and a bigger fine?
Thanks in advance? Very very very frustrated here and feeling very angry!!

The tacho will be your friend

I am exempt unfortunately.
Again long story short we have the taco’s fitted but dont have to use them, and im kicking myself because i have just been using it to keep myself brushed up on using ut as i plan doing weekends in the ‘real’ world for a but of extra money.

Think you’ll need the services of a specialist solicitor for this one, which is going to be expensive.

You can still do a printout of the vehicle on the head unit date, time, speed etc. :sunglasses:

Yes, thanks for replies. Reading a bit online, its infuriating. Its just not worth contesting it as the cost outways everything. Could get a solicitor but huge cost and cannot really prove it. Crazy. Contest it and get a bigger fine and more points!
Fuming. Big brother state or what. If our man says your doing 50 you were doing 50 and if you dare to challenge us will bankrupt you!
A fair cops a fair cop but this grinds my gears. Am i going to have to buy a go pro and video my speedo everyday.
Sorry guys just P’d off!

I will look into this ASAP! Im not to hot on taco’s tbh but its taken a while to get the letter to me as at first it was sent to employer then sent back naming me as driver then sent to me etc.
There’s a ray of hope then, thanks.

Send the head printout to the court and see what they say

I will let you no how i get on. I just read head unit records a years worth!! I dont no how but i will get this!!
Thank thanks and thanks.

Calibrations a ■■■■■ lol :grimacing:

I just checked my tacho and the oldest speed trace I can print out is 27th Dec so check your tacho sooner rather than later

Don’t bother contesting it it will cost you more and you will still get the points you don’t state whether you have been offered a speed awareness course if not take the hit.

The APCO guidelines state that the tolerance they give is 10% +2 M.P.H this is because most speedos are not calibrated and can never be 100% accurate the digital tachograph printout does not show speed.

The laser detector has a range of 1000 meters and takes 0.2 seconds to get a fix if you see the van and you’re speeding its to late, they get the fix then take a series of pictures that show the number plate, the only chance you have is on a dual carrigeway when other vehicles are around and it’s impossible to fix on the fastest moving object.

No did not state awareness course: was trying to keep a long story short. I did state i just recieved NIP, you have to send that back to say it was you driving they then send you an offer. Court, fine and points, and if you qualify and there is a course local to you around the time they MAY, offer you a course. Not got that far yet.
Was just posting here to vent my frustration and mention im sure you have heard it all before. The FACTS are i seen him when i approached him blind at a junction side on, turned left and went down road slow, until my drop. But was out of his site after 60 metres max, as he was on a hill and a blind bend, the road dipped away and around a corner. 1000 yards miles whatever are irrelevant. Now i was at drop ten mins max, already seen him, so it dont take a rocket scientist to work out i was not going to drive up the road to him in the direction ge was pointing his gun at 40mph! Thats not my style im affraid. I also am no brain surgeon, but i remember the day as if it was yesterday as i gad to get my medical that morning, i can retrace the whole day in my head because of it, due to remembering my glasses getting time of work, having envelope out in car with renewel forms in ready to send off etc etc. I actually still have reciept from post office as i sent it recorded.
The facts are online for everyone to see, they can carch you from 1000 metres are are accurate to 0.3 mph etc etc etc etc.
My point was i was NOT speeding, i was not going over 30, the truck is brand new with 5600 km on the clock. So however good they claim there has been a spectacular mistake here. And what gets me is i no it. FACT, but as im Joe Bloggs nobody, no education as such i will have to ■■■■ it up. How dare i challenge those who can read and write and make the rules!
Sorry i probably have the problem, after all the camera does not lie.

cheers anyhow appreciate input. I prob wont contest it. Fingers crossed for course, even though insurance companies want to no about them now and are charging accordingly.
Ill be ok in morning, had me hissy fit now.

I thought I had been caught last week, going downhill on a dual I was looking at my speedo (ironically) going up to 60 and didn’t see the van until it was too late, it was only later I remembered that the speed limits have gone up!!! Good times

Cool, well i no now they have to inform you within 14days if they catch you speeding. Unless like me they have to go back and forth, ie hire cars or work trucks etc, but if your registered owner if you have not heard after 3 weeks your in the clear! Thats by law guys, they have 14 days to tell you, or no case.
Good luck. Cheers guys

Location?

Not true iirc.

As long as the NIP is produced in 14 days. It could sit for another 3 weeks before it reaches you.
