After passing one, how far should you notify incoming trucks?
The warning of other vehicles is, technically illegal, and drivers have been succesfully prosecuted for doing so.
But I would say up to a mile is good enough.

be careful doing it as if you are seen by plod doing it then they pretty {zb}y about it. if no cops then a couple of miles.
who cares about the rozzers. if you can save one brother from a ticket then good luck, just be on the lookout, especially for hitler Angus 
It’s stupid that the plod will prosecute you for warning other drivers .The idea of the cameras is to slow drivers down so any driver warning others they are going too fast must be aiding the police ,unless the police have other motives such as cynically raising money which they always deny is the reason for the cameras

If drivers didn’t exceed the speed limit, it wouldn’t be nessesary to warn other drivers.
Nor would it be nessesary for the authorities to spend money deploying resources to catch em

if the police say that you are warning other drivers then deny all knowledge of seeing the speed gun.
I was just “letting on” to a driver I Knew … 
Warn them before they come into range of the speed trap is the logical thing to do.
Please lads, they are not speed traps, they are safety camera deployments.
At least thats what they kept repeating on the ‘speed’ awareness course I was on

Just like to point out that she is my father
Bishopburton nr Beverley on the road to/from York. Nothing for miles either side of the village, which is set in a winding dip, and a 50 to 30 to 50 mph. Camera van always hides in a recess by the village pond and can only be seen approaching from Beverley.
I will always warn for up to 3 miles or so given the fact there is nothing else around but do sometimes wonder if i may be just confusing drivers by warning for so long…
theres a guy who travels the A9 reguarly gives a thumb down too every lorry he meets even though there aint a scamera van/rozzer in sight for the next 50 miles
