The difference between Apple and Windows or Nokia is when Apple bring something out it usually works.
Correct me if I’m wrong but when the IPhone 4 was released wasn’t there a problem with it showing a better signal strength than was really available, then to solve the problem of a poor antenna instead of recalling the phones for repair/replacement they gave users a case and told people to use that
It seems to me that the primary function of a phone is digital communication and particularly voice communication, and by your own admission Apple seem to have got that very wrong with the IPhone
I disagree, I think voice calls are increasingly taking a back seat to apps, Internet, email etc. Which is why I put up with dropped calls because calls are a very small part of what I use my phone for.
As a techy freind of mine said to a colluege at work who was showing off his new iPhone 4 you the one who looks a prat haveling a 600 quid phone and having to put a rubber band round it to make it work

It could have been worse, he could of been showing off a windows phone, then he’d look a right tool
Never had problems h winmob windows phone is a completely different animal to winmo and the huge winmo backcatalouge of apps can’t be used on windows phone
I have with me a HTC touch cruize that’s runs my Satnav I have the I phone version but the iPhone GPs is pants on a3gs as with IOS you can’t directly access the GPS you have to ask for a fix every few seconds from the os never had a problem with winmo all alot of problems were down to device roms that many carriers messed up very good phones one of my favorites was the HTC Raphael but re screen died and couldn’t get another one

What do you mean about the GPS? Can’t understand what you meant…
IOS and android don’t allow driect acces to the GPs chipset on there devices Satnav and other location services have to ask for a positional update every few seconds from the operating system this means in some situations the handset will loose the GPs fix and the Satnav can stop working this is why you can run more than one GPs app on an iPhone or android handset with windows mobile developers had direct access to the GPs chip so if you set you Satnav running the the GPs fix or location is more stable as the Satnav application is operating the GPs chip in the phone directly indipendantly of the operating system haven’t got in the playing with windows phone yet as I can’t be bothered to jail break it or get a developer account to unlock it

In reality does that GPS issue actually cause a problem though? I’ve never noticed a problem!!
Jailbreaking a windows phone isn’t the same as jailbreaking an iPhone with windows phone its more like opening up the phone to allow access the some of the file structure it also allows you to side load home made appliactions from other hobby developers to put it simply
On the iPhone 3 Gs its big problem as the GPs isn’t that good Apple put basicly a 5 year old GPs chip in the phone where as the iPhone 4 has a much better sirf3 equivelent GPs
It basicly meant that I had to stop using my iPhone as a GPs as it would loose signal for 10 plus minutes in urban conditions this ment the navigation app I was using was next to useless this was entirely due to the iPhones GPs chip this affects the 3 and 3gs it can affect the iphone 4 but to much much lesser extent

Does the desire have Market leading iPod software? Nope!
Access to iTunes? Nope?
Free viewing of sky tv over 3G?
Tomtom navigation software?
HGV truck navigation software?
The list goes on…
Plus the desire is not faster than an iPhone.
Thats not much of a list. But anyway for all you have mentioned there is an equivalent for Android phones, although as far as i know there is no HGV truck navigation available for it yet.
Just a quick update, after asking here and other drivers at work Ive decided to go for an HTC Desire S, which I should hopefully by the end of the week providing Vodafone pull their fingers out
My Blackberry is knackered, turns itself off (usually in the middle of a call ) and Ive now got to take the battery out, wait a while, and put it back in to get the poxy thing to charge
