Mobile phone enforcement camera

Because I did that job for 25 years and have seen how it works from the “other side”?

I must have been hallucinating then eh?..when I (thought) I have seen just what I have described.

So you’ve seen drivers hogging the middle lane and apparently being ignored by police patrols, yes?

Were these patrols actively engaged in stopping/dealing with mobile phone users?

Look bud seriously, I’m not being funny here, but I aint one bit impressed (nor surprised if I’m honest) you’re ex Police, or whether you’re Sting, Copeland or Summers even, I don’t care.
I’m not the biggest fan of them, and that opinion is based on what I’ve experienced, seen and heard.
If you want to be an apologist or spokesman for them, then crack on, but you will not change my opinions on them…ie they’re a wate of time, have lost their reason for existence, and prioritise on offences that generate revenue rather than others, or worse…actual crime, while excusing themselves with the ‘lack of resources’ chestnut…yawn ■■■■ yawn.

So again, …I make my judgements on what I actually see on the roads, which is an epidemic of crap driving on our Mways, and no Police to supervise it or police it…unless of course there is money to be made out of it.
Hope that explains.

I’m not trying to impress anyone (let alone your good self). You asked a specific question and I answered it.

Had a Merc actros unit pull alongside me near Bury st Edmunds the other day, proper made me jump when I noticed a strange man looking at me with a camera [emoji23]

In Orwell’s 1984, police helicopters hovver outside peoples’ windows peering in. On the bright side, should the Actros men make any false claims against you, your driver facing camera will clear you, because in addition to filming you, it will be filming them filming you.

What a funny old world.

no driver facing camera in my cab!

That you know of.

If I recall correctly, some operators have been using concealed pinhole cameras, which have been posted on here. Ocado being one, I’m sure.

i recon someone should complain about the blatent sexism in that photograph.
theyve stuck a tart in the middle of the the pic with a large phallic symbol on each side of her surrounded by bell ends and helmets with all the guys holding their clakkerbags…looks like the start of a decent blue movie ■■■■■■■■ style…or.is it only me that see it like that??

Most people are talking about police driving a white vehicle, but last time I saw something in the news about a police HGV doing the rounds, it had pictures of the cops sitting in it and I noticed it was a non-descript blue-grey colour, just the kind of colour that wouldn’t attract your attention…

Speaking of using mobiles - why is it when you work for a driving agency, and they know you’re driving that day (because they got you the work) do they phone you several times during the working day?
Mine even called because they’d texted me about a CPC course and I hadn’t called them back as soon as they would have liked. Maybe because I’m driving and trying to do do it without getting points on my licence? :unamused:

erm…couldnt you just wear the ■■■■ thing?

i do wear it,90% -99% off the time,im not an avoider on purpose , i simply forget time to time thats what it is,busy lives is my excuse -but my radar is now on heightened alert lookout for this white merc cruising the A14 , probably they are doing several forgetful souls each day id wager .few yrs back i was done myself yet i still forget . the day i saw the cop in layby it was about 6.30 am

I dont mean no disrespect or offense but How does one forget to put a seatbelt on? After so many years of driving it should be autonomous shouldnt it? Its automatic for me to put seatbelt on before driving off. Dont even think about it? If I tried to drive without seatbelt on it would just feel weird.

Keep your eyes peeled and you’ll see a fair few police cars hogging the middle lane and driving cars that have indicators as an extra

Many years ago I did once have a short spate of forgetting to use my seatbelt, despite it always having been my habit to do so.

After the 6th or 7th time it became quite concerning and I had to return to paying attention to it for a while until it seemed to become fully autonomous again.
