Moaning drivers

a question for all employers, how do you deal with moaning drivers, i have one that moans about every job that hes given, im just waiting for any reason to sack him

DAF DAVE:
im just waiting for any reason to sack him

^^^ This is my preferred approach!

If you let guys like that continue on their merry way, pretty soon ALL the drivers will be moaning. It’s the old bad apple scenario, get rid of it before the whole barrell goes rotten. If all else fails, make his life a misery until he can’t take any more and leaves of his own accord.

However, don’t discount the possibility that he may well have valid reason to be a moaning faced ■■■■■ Also, if he is an otherwise good employee and decent driver there may be ways you can learn to live with his constant ■■■■■■■■, as decent drivers are hard to find and it might be more prudent to let him have a rant occasionally to keep him sweet.

If you do get rid of him, and you are within driving distance of South Wales - give me a shout, I’m still looking for work and I don’t moan (much!)

But, I also agree with Globetrotter up there ^^ if he’s otherwise a decent driver, then learn to live with it - after all, he’s out of the yard for most of the week

I always let them blow themselves out -
but if i have a real full on moaner i always say
‘hold the line please - i’ll put you through to the director - can you voice your concerns to him’
strangley they hang up at this point lol
cheers

Like it  Or, if he’s in the office give him 20p and tell him to phone someone who gives a ■■■■!

I can’t think of any valid reasons for a driver to moan about except, poor pay, busy roads, goods inwards hitlers, VOSA, traffic police, traffic planners, MSA’s, moaning wife/girlfriend or both (full on reason to moan), poor truck, 50 something mph, car drivers, women car drivers, old women car drivers and cats! I hate the things!
This driver needs to get a life - nothing much to moan about really…unless you know otherwise?

In fairness… one of the things that gets you down … Is a “Moaning” driver… with no just cause… other than he thinks he is hard done by… or treated more badly than the other drivers. My previous company had one or two … or three or four… and no matter what you gave them to do it was never right… Luckily the majority were / are top men who will work with you to get the job done.
And when you suggest that their future lay with another company if they wish to be home every night… thats when the abuse and crap comes pouring out of their mouths…!!!
Someone asked me today… do i miss the job…■■?
Neville.

And there was me thinking you had to be a grumpy moanin git as a pre-requisite to be a truckie, cos there plenty of it on here

If I ain’t moaning, I ain’t happy!

A mate of mine had a driver who was always moaning, but was a good worker, when his foreman left.I said make the moaning driver foreman which he did.End of moaning,he had a bit of responsibility and it worked out OK.

I always give the moaning driver the earliest start on a Monday and latest finish on a Friday…

Some people are unable to pass comment without it sounding like their moaning, may be it just his way.

i left a good job because i couldnt take anymore of the moaning faced drivers i had too work with. (my last job not the one am in now )

Well that’ll help improve things. :unamused:

You see the thing is I’ve been regularly having an extra drop added to my run and I’ve been finishing 90 minutes later than normal. I always say no problem and when they said “I’m sorry to keep doing this to you” I said “that’s fine just send me some biscuits, that’ll keep me happy”

It’s a case of having a bit of a laugh. To get past things. The amazing thing is that they actually sent me a box of biscuits, nice ones too. However some of my colleagues have suggested that I’ve been having ■■■■■■■■■ with trunk control!

Maybe it’s because I’m young and new to the job that I get on with it. We’ll see in a few years I guess.

Although I used my sun visor for the first time as a night driver!

Not worth whinging, unless you are being asked to run bent - then they can get ■■■■■■! IMHO, of course

Exactly. If it was to push me over my hours then no chance but for what I’m being asked I’m fine. In fact I just spoke to Head Office as I’m getting delayed for extra freight again and he’s saying thanks for being so cooperative it makes a nice change to a lot of other drivers. I don’t mind being nice when you actually get thanks for it.

I suppose you could see it as the people that whinge make you look better.

There is nothing happier than a hard done by driver…

You can keep the ‘thanks’
I expect like to get paid for doing extra
