Minimum driver pay act 2021

Daf245:
In a very overregulated industry, and with a massive driver shortage, should the government not step in, and pass an act of Parliament to insure there is a minimum pay rate for all classes of drivers, plus days, nights, weekends,
And time and a half after 8 hours.
Double time after 10 hours
Sounds alien to most but yes we used to get paid more after 8 hours.

The national minimum wage has been used to reduce wages.

So No.

If proper capitalist market forces had been allowed to take effect, - all those firms who moaned about paying more, and having to let people go - would go bust outright, and those fewer firms that remained - would be constantly head-hunting drivers from other firms NOT using “higher pay”, but instead "better perks, T&Cs, and other non-monetary benefits from working at their firm rather than your current one. :bulb:

WTF has that got to do with multiple firms now paying less because Blair brought in a national minimum wage!!!. Have you not seen how rates have fallen? Or are you going to blame Brexit over and over again…

Who sets the minimum wage today?
If it isn’t enough who is to blame for that?
.
Tony Blair is to blame for many things, but not today’s minimum wage.
.

He should never have set it up! That was his intension all along, to lower our pay for his pals, the prat flooded us in 2005-7 to keep our rates even lower. Boris ballsup just continues to raise it :unamused:

I still blame Tony Blair for a lot of things yes even now.

So, thanks for inviting the government to intervene. Their approach is to ‘extend’ drivers hours by an hour a day. Yeah, thanks for that! Rock on Tommy…
