I suggest that ALL UK hauliers drop the trailers in Calais and let the East euros bring them across. They can pay the fine out of the cheap labour costs.

Makes you want to bang your head against the wall. Anyone, whether they are in the industry or not, HAS to see this as ludicrous! But as the poor driver said, he wasn’t the first, and won’t be the last…

You can’t even rely on the help of the authorities when you are trying to do the right thing. Instead they just kick the driver in the nads and say give me your wallet. A great stealth tax that only concerns a small percentage of the population, so the government have no real motivation to change anything. The only way things will change, is by publishing this idiotic policy. So good on the driver for doing an interview, i hope he got a few quid to cover the fines…

If he ‘stopped’ at the UK border ‘crossing’ and requested a border check for illegal immigrants hiding in the load then how does that fit the description of ‘bringing them in’.Being that he is obviously at that point still technically in no man’s land in France from the point of view of immigration.As proved by the fact that the ‘immigrants’ seem to have been left in France not brought in and now subject to all the usual asylum prodedures here.

So if you kill or seriously injure those you find in your truck should they refuse to get the f out when you tell them to, what is the fine 4 that then,? and then blame your actions on the UK government and it’s UKBA wanting to shaft you for doing your job, when they have failed to do theirs in the first place, STOP free NHS health care and any form of benefits to all of them, if they still stay and work make them pay for education for their offspring ect ect, let them work, but not for less than the going rate, introduce big fines for employers who try to pay less

In other words offer them the same as they can get in France and other EU countries, why offer them more ? watch their numbers drop significantly, also make it law they must carry ID at all times , failure to do so renders them liable to automatic deportation,as would them being convicted of any crime that carries a prison sentence

that’s why we get shafted time and time again, I’m up for protest, most drivers will talk the talk , but bottle it when it comes to crunch time, be that getting union representation in the company they work for, or something like this,
I’ve got my mortgage to pay, ect ect short-sighted approach, If we want a better life style we need to stick together

Talking about “paying fines”… I’m starting to see VOSA speaking to these guys that park under bridges on the M25 & M1 at night, presumably taking a full 9 hours there?
They don’t seem to be moving them on - but are they fining them?

Once you are thru passport control on the French side you are in the UK as the UK border was moved there when the tunnel opened same with the UK side being French but they very rarely man it . I do feel for the guy but if I thought I had them in the back I would not have moved until I was checked it always been a no no to go any further . Still harsh tho

According to the story he seems to have stopped and requested a search ‘before’ actually ‘crossing’ the ‘border’ which is when the immigrants were found.Which seems to be confirmed by the fact that the immigrants weren’t transferred here under UK responsibility and the idea of ‘border control’ staff carrying out checks inside the border ‘after’ the immigrants have entered wouldn’t make any sense.

Which seems to confirm that the UK government are colluding in the scam by putting all the required controls ‘after’ the technical crossing point instead of before/on it.

However ‘if’ it really is ‘inside/after’ the technical crossing point then logically that would defeat the object of ‘checks’ and also mean that it’s too late to stop the ‘immigrants’ if/when they are found at the search point.Which doesn’t seem to be the case. :bulb: IE the government is fining people when no crime has technically been committed so long as the driver stops and asks for a check to be carried out at the border point voluntarily.Which is similar to the idea of the green nothing to declare or red goods to declare system when/where a duty payment responsibilty applies.If you stop and declare goods subject to duty and/or potential contraband then no crime has been committed.The clue in this case seems to be that the immigrants in question weren’t considered as having reached UK responsibility regards asylum regs therefore obviously hadn’t technically ‘crossed the border’.In which case what did the statement ‘set them free’ actually mean.

The French security who do the heart beat scans are not doing their jobs, they are not checking vehicles and they will not stamp your paper work or sign it to say that they have checked the vehicle,or to confirm that they haven’t checked it , they shrug their shoulders and point at the booking offices, The french are a FFin joke , the only reliable check that works at calais port is the final one in the lanes with the dog , but by then your looking at a fine,
Just thought if they removed all access to free healthcare and the entire benefit system for all incoming, then i see no good reason for them wanting to come here, i mean why TF would come here,? crap weather,mass unemployment, housing shortages

I feel so sorry for the drivers at Calais ( most of the time we use Newhaven-Dieppe ) but sometimes use Calais as i will next week going to BG. As most international drivers know there are 2 check points in Calais, one is for soft siders, the other for solid wall trailers, and most if not all have to go through one or the other, so those clandestines ( love that word ) would have been spotted either on the x ray machine or probe. Either way its a travesty that this driver was fined £2 grand for doing his job, the news has been full of stories about truckers…immigrants and the fact that one may be killed unless action is taken…so why is nothing being done, why are the authorities fining drivers like its their fault.

IF the French did their job properly…especially at the border with Italy…If the british navy never picked the bstartds up and drop them in italy from the boats…IF the French did their job in Calais…maybe we wouldnt have such a lack of security and protection.

Now teresa May is going to contribute to a Safe area for truckers…we all know that at some point the trucks will have no choice but to stop…this is where the danger lies…the answer is to close the camp completely and move it as far away from the ports as possible, arrest any pedestrian on the motorway that shouldnt be there…tell the red cross to stop feeding the fkrs…and maybe there wont be so many travelling across europe to reach our shores. Yes our benefit system is a lot to blame…with their brothers already here, and spreading the news of the benefits to be had. A while ago during a news report, when the immigrants were interviewed…most said they wanted to work in the uk…( most cant speak english ) most said they will be given a house and other benefits…this has to stop…and Dave hasnt grasped yet why a lot of us went to UKIP…it seems as though the rights of the British people doesnt matter anymore…so come voting time ( in/out referendum ) Dave is in for a shock…this is what we mean mate, controlled immigration…which he never tackled in the first 5 years of office, and hasnt mentioned in the beginning of the second term.

Politicians with the exception of UKIP think its a dirty word to use the word Asylum seeker/Immigrant etc yet they cannot see what a drain immigration has on our services like Housing/Schools/NHS etc and have the nerve to blame older people for becoming ill as they grow, thats utter Bllks as we all know…giving our money away like confetti on items such as Child benefit to immigrants whose kids are not even in the country…why not give them the equivalent of what they would get in their own country…;instead of theb equivalent of a weeks/months wages. We all saw what was going to happen, on Jan 1st 2/3 years ago when the cameras were filming the buses being loaded with east europeans whose destination was the UK…Im going to finish my rant now, but leave you with this thought... Enoch Powell was right when he mentioned the Rivers of Blood ` speech and they knew he was right which is why they quickly moved him over to Ireland where he couldnt mention immigrants anymore.

It’s probably more complicated than that.Probably along the lines of the French security forces on the ground saying that Hollande and the bleeding heart Socialists are in office but they are no longer a valid government.On that basis it is obvious that they are ( rightly ) saying that if the Brits are so keen on bringing all the ‘asylum seekers’ in then let the Brits take them.At least unless/until Le Pen and the FN can take over the French administration then they can start deporting them back where they came from.In which case no surprise we’ll see the true colours of the bleeding heart/cheap labour pro immigration agenda here and probably in Italy,calling the French nazis. :unamused:

For some driving in the uk 5-6 days every week is a big no no, too many knobs on our roads then you got roadworks on nearly all motorways, and crappy RDC’s with all their elf & saftey bs to contend with, I would sooner drive over in euro land than in this sh&tole
And most who drive in euroland are no worse off finacially infact some are better off wages wise, most choose to drive over there because most of their time is actually spent at the wheel, so shorter duty times over all and driving is less stressful over there, the muppets are further apart as most euro isn’t as densly populated as blighty is

Great drive a 4 wheeler on local multi drop/building deliveries instead that’ll be a much better job at least in your view. :unamused:
