The Brady’s 1644 was possibly one of the first in the UK and was the second purchase off Mercedes Benz from the motor show at Birmingham, and ran for 2 years in Mercedes red and white livery, This motor was a real power house in it’s day and the higher and wider cab was a luxury as well.

some of our old sk s
does anyone have any shots of the interior of the eurocab ones please
First I ever drove was when on for Collinsons I was lent out to Haley Bros Powder tanks not quite sure would it be a 1619 anyway my normal ride F88 for Collinsons so you can only imagine what I thought of the Merc
Second one I drove was when I used to help clean up after the Geordie Truckshow & the Merc trade stand always needed someone to take there wagons back to Stockton so volunteered for the nice shiney new 2635 & its fancy new gearbox, so after a quick demo round the field off we set in convoy, got to a T junction on a hill stopped ,went to pull away oops it was in Neutrol roll back, but one of the lads was right up me jacksi with another new Merc, anyway stopped in time but wasnt far off   I got the hang of the gearbox before we got back to Stockton. Driving 2 pedal Actros now full time. Haven
t seen any pics of Cristean Salveston their mercs & fridges together always looked smart Only one of Ferrymasters been posted they always looked well also none of Elddis & they are still running mostly Merc Fleet
In the mid 90’s we had three or four K and L plate1838’s in a otherwise MAN fleet working 24/7 with any driver which had come from another Depot on the same work and so had plenty of miles already and I don’t recall any problems at all.We had the occasional spot hire 1834 which were a bit gutless and a 1735 which definitely was’nt,1628’s and 1729’s also appeared now and again. In the late 70’s I drove a 2419 skip loader pulling a trailer, flat out at 52 but always willing with a 6 speed box. The same company had a 2419 converted to a 8 wheeler by Primrose but Merc would’nt stand the warranty so it was never used, they were long time Merc users as well. Does anyone remember Graveson of Carnforth who had day cab 1626’s converted to trailing axle 6 leggers with single off road tyres on the rear and used as front loading skip wagons…As odd as it sounds, I’m not actually a fan of this make but the three pointed star deserves its reputation in my experience, though we all try to avoid the various Actros that seem to turn every Xmas.
Hello all, this TN thing does get to you, ended up in a filing cabinet going through old photographs instead of doing what I should have been doing. SKs, great lorries, always sounded like a bag of nails, but the V8s were so reliable. First Powerliner EPS I bought, got so excited when it was delivered insisted that we (wife and I), go home in it rather than the car. Oh dear she broke the heel off a brand new pair of stillettoes getting in, so I was in the dog house! The V8s never ran over budget, but the V6s, although astonishingly reliable were never popular with drivers, so I sold them off after 18months. Those big cabs were comfortable, we had two really good Dealers who looked after us well, but somehow I found Milton Keynes not so easy, firstly when they "dumped"the prices, so the same deal in net terms was available to all, irrespective of the volume of product being acquired, (they also did this with passenger cars), and the last straw was when they opened up in Contract Hire, thus becoming a direct competitor to us, I stopped buying their products. But I have good memories of the SKs, like so many vehicles I wished I had kept one!! Cheerio for now, and those photographs are super, thank you all,
