Mental Torture (following Tesco wagons)

I totally understand it can be frustrating being stuck behind a tesco wagon or who ever else, but to see pimpdaddy say “just because their Tesco” is a bit stupid really, Tesco don’t make the laws, they just ask their drivers to not break them.

How is it a bit stupid, it’s tesco that decided to limit it’s trucks to 49mph, not the law-it’s tesco that come up with this fleetboard bonus crap that in turn makes you the drivers drive in an uncourteous manner, NOT THE LAW…:exclamation:

Its the “■■■■ heads” who can only drive with their right boot to the floor regardless, who find that people who get in their way an irritation, they are the ones who tend to drive in a discourteous manner out of frustration or stupidity.

Wise words O oracle.

Any reason why a Tesco driver would not want to collect cardboard waste? I saw one at a Tesco Express garage near me earlier when I was using the cashpoint. He really was not happy doing the shop waste although it looked easy and clean. Maybe a new driver who didn’t realise he had to do backloads?

From reading some of the stuff here maybe he didn’t want the extra weight to affect his fleetboard score. It’s a sad day when drivers can’t just get on and do the job. Companies hire a driver based on competence and experience then constantly bash them over the head with computer reports saying they can’t drive.

If you want a hard time tesco will give it to you, otherwise they won’t bother you.
Fleetboard isn’t an issue like people seem to make it out to be. it’s achievable to get top scores easy even in london.

Exactly. I get my bonus every week and I’m not someone who hangs about, all fleetboard is there to do is to make sure the engine isn’t being redlined through every gear and the brakes aren’t being slammed on every time you come to a stop, do them 2 things the way they should be done anyway and the rest takes care of itself

I think those “taking your safety seriously” stickers are part of the annoyance; They can’t just have a sticker with “vehicle limited by law to…” they have that smug, patronising ■■■■■■■■ to make it seem like they care. They don’t, like DHL have those “limited to 85kmh to reduce carbon emissions” stickers, they don’t give a rats’ arse about co2; It’s good advertising to pretend they do.
I’m in favour of those restricted to 40mph signs-I had one on a tipper until I had a day off and some ■■■■■■ ripped it off because if your lorry had one, you had to stick to 40.

What’s the legal position with regard to a trailer with “limited to 50” written all over it being pulled by an OD with a magnet?

…I know it’s bloody annoying when you pull out to overtake the anticipated slowcoach, only to find he hits the metal as you’re level with him, and leaves you high and dry in lane two with your 56 limited truck… :imp:

If you have a need to exceed speed limits or your pushed for time then you need to look at WHY
(1)You are either not leaving early enough to enable you to run legal
(2) been delayed in loading /unloading therefore you run late, its not upto you to play catch up
(3) there is something wrong in your scheduling
(4) you have stopped to long in a cafe/layby
30-40 on single 50 on dual 60 motorway these are maximum speeds not minimum,
Computers that determine the scheduling etc don`t have driving licence the Licence is yours not the Companies, lose your Licence lose your job,all the Company will do is replace you
As most off us know the Traffic Clerk who operates the computer and tells you “you can do this or do that” more than likely has no idea, other than what the computer tells him / her
If your paid by the hour WHY speed ■■

What a load of ■■■■■■■■. Neither 1, 2, 3 or 4 apply to me and I will go flat out where I deem it safe to do so and it’s got nothing to do with anyone else what speed I do. I charge an hourly rate but it is such that I am quite happy with my earnings for 10 hrs rather than feeling forced to drag it out to 15 hrs by doing 35 mph on every back road in order to make a half decent wage. If I get pinged by a speed camera then there’s no-one to blame but myself, I am happy with that. I have no issue with other truckers sticking to the speed limits but what I strongly object to are the ones with the “you’re not getting past me” attitude where suddenly the speed limits go out of the window as soon as you attempt to overtake them on a perfectly suitable long clear stretch of single and they floor it. Strangely enough the biggest offenders for doing this on the A65 through the night are Stobart’s. I had it just a few hours ago, Stobart artic doing 35mph between Settle and Skipton. 18 mph through Long Preston and was touching the brakes every time a car came the other way. Got through Hellifield and went to overtake him on the only decent straight for a long way and he puts his foot down as I’m half way past and starts white-lining it to make it as tight as possible even though he had 3ft of road to his left. Funny how the 40mph speed limit slipped his mind then as he sat on my back doors at 56mph all the way to Bradford. :unamused:

By way of contrast I often meet a 3663 artic along there as well as an 8 leg animal feed wagon, both of whom like to stick to 40. Never any problems getting past them, they’ll ease of at the suitable places and give me a couple of indicator winks. A few winks and a toot-toot in return and everyone is happy, they’re out of my hair, I’m out of theirs. Likewise if I’m running heavy going the other way I’ll do the same to let the empty tippers get past me heading back to the quarry.

There’s far too much ‘small ■■■■’ syndrome amongst wagon drivers, crying like a bunch of babies because your ego gets dented when another wagon manages to get past you/wants to get past you. What does it matter? Just let them past if it’s safe/convenient to do so and everyone can get on their way.

I don’t give a ■■■■ who passes me, as I’m paid by the hour, so am not rushing.

The ones that do wind me up though, are those that fly past me through the roadworks, on their phones, totally oblivious to everyone else around them.
I don’t even bother flashing them in anymore. How these bods seem to get paid more than I do for both being on a lower hourly rate AND carving the job up - I’ll never know. :frowning:

Does my head in driving those tesco rig ids, alright on locals but long distance it’s a killer,I pull the curtains so no one can see me,oh the embarrassment of driving a tesco axors, doing tesco work for £7 p.h :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:
Tesco should hold there heads in shame, they treat us like them Chinese,Indians in them sweat shops :exclamation: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:
Bet no tesco drivers do 15 hr days,70/80 hrs a week :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:
Hope our new friends at wait rose step in and pay us the same as there drivers, well we are doing the same job :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

There’s a way to be a “green” driver at Tesco and it involves revving at lights in traffic ectr I was averaging 99.9 by the end and getting all the easy runs. Personally I don’t mind the 49.5 mph as you are paid by the hour you are and are not always rushed around all the time

Limiters is one reason I retired, if it wont do 60mph/ 102kph on motorways I don’t want it.

Whats this, economics? You’re not doing the same job are you. You employer works for Tesco, who pay Willy wonkas a rate to run its lorries on Tesco ops. Its your employer who pays you monkey nuts.

If you were doing the “same” job as Tesco drivers you would be working for Tesco and Tesco would pay you Tesco money. But you work for someone else who wants to earn lots of money themselves.
