received the report from the professer the report states i was on medication (sodium valporate) for a year after my seizure yet my medical records say different that the prescription wasnt repeated now im pretty sure i wouldnt of been prescribed a years worth of tablets
when questioned about this the dvla didnt want to know as per usual
so as it stands i have to wait about 2 years before i can apply for my licence because of tablets i was given for a seizure that didnt happen and doctors and specialists have confirmed it
all my letters and correspondance has been passed to my local mp not holding out much hope to be honest even thou he thinks it is all wrong
does anyone have any advice to where to go from here?
I wouldn’t give up. I’ve got a heart condition, Long QT Syndrome, I 1st applied for my LGV Provisional when I was 21, which was refused on the basis of the LQTS. It’s taken many years, but finally got a consultant to agree that as I’ve never shown any symptoms, or suffered any ill effects of the condition, that I should be able to drive LGV. I guess in a way it helped that the consultant is the one of the leading consultants on the condition in Europe, but after 13yrs of trying it seems I may now be on the way to getting my provisional. I say may, as in June, a day after I posted the application, I had a heart attack, but after ringing the DVLA on Monday, they didn’t say it had been refused again, just that I’ll be needing to take a treadmill test, so fingers crossed I’ll hopefully get it.

i have not given up im determined to get it and im hoping i will get it there is so many thing wrong with the report from the professor and along with the doctors sayin it wasnt a seizure its just tryin to convince the dvla
thought i would update this after finding out from my gp the dvla at no point requested my medical records which state i wasnt on anti epilepsy medication in 2003 but was prescribed it in may 2004 for a swollen ■■■■■■ yes we are currently trying to find out why i was given that drug for that
my medical records were sent to the dvla in january and had a response today saying that regardless of my medical records they are still refusing me my hgv licence on the grounds that i declared i had a seizure in 2003 which at the time i was told it was from the hospital but now to be confirmed it wasnt a seizure so i now either have to wait till 2013-2014 before i can reapply or take this further
the dvla also sent a letter sayin they wish to discourage further correspondance on this issue and inlight the dvla considers it prudent to ask that i wait out the full ten year medication free period
at the moment i feel beyond disenhearted by this to the point i feel like giving up i have spoke to my dad and he has suggested goin back to my doctor as the doctor who done my medical for my application said i was on sodium valporate in 2003 which my doctor has said isnt true i have submitted every bit of medical evidence and the dvla are not willing to listen or take notice
short story in 2003 was rushed to hospital with a suspected epileptic seizure its now been confirmed as a panic attack so i filled in application for hgv licence got refused as medical records show the seizure managed to prove to dvla that the seizure in 2003 wasnt confirmed as a seizure which they seemed to of accepted as i WAS misdiagnosed HOWEVER due to this so called seizure i was given tablets and now the dvla have refused application due to the tablets even thou i was misdiagnosed and there has been nothing wrong with me since 1995 i understand they have a ruling of ten years with no siezures and 10 years of no medication so can anyone give me any advice to fight this as there is nothing wrong wit me and have had nothing wrong with me since 95 and i feel im being punished for something thats not my fault or even happened
Doctors or hospital consultant letter confirming miss diagnosis that should do the trick. They cannot holdback your entitlement for something you never had.
You need evidence of the misdiagnosis and to send that to DVLA medical by registered mail - keep copies for yourself as they lose things from time to time!!

the dvla have had 2 letters from specialists both confirming it wasnt a seizure but as i was given tablets for the suppose seizure thats why they are holding it back from me yet they are willing to let me drive car im just totally confused as im looking at nearly a 4 year wait to reapply

How thick are they, you were given tablets because of the miss diagnosis the tablets where also miss prescibed. You could also sue the hell outta the NHS if you wanted to get shirty.

animal i have had a look at that thread and maybe its just me i cannot see anything answers a such to help me maybe i dunno wat im looking for so to speak if you could possibly pin point something to help maybe im just being thick
Well basically I had another fit or " seizure " if you like after not having 1 for 3.5 years as I said look in the health & family room under my user name as it is all in there you may have to go back to March 2007 as it goes on that long
The Dr did inform DVLA so my licence was revoked had a lot of test scans etc they couldnt find anything wrong applied for my licence back which took a few months due to papers being lost then had to be re-sent ( had to get the consultant to re-send all as well ) then went back a few mth later to upgrade licence but they were holding on to it & not giving me answers even though they had all the info
Several mth later I did receive it back after a very “economical” phone call to them & not looked back until last dec so if you look a little further you might find something of use to you also a read of this
I had an interview for my present job on a Wednesday, they asked me if I could ship out on the Sunday but I was waiting for my license to come back after 4 weeks, I rang the number on the part of the form you keep after writing you driver number on it, the first person I spoke to said I was ok to drive but asked a supervisor when I told him I had to have it with me when in another country. He said I was right and when did I need it as it’s buried in the pile, told him I’m going Sunday so need it in Saturday’s post… It was Thursday morning when I rang so didn’t fancy my chances. He said he would see what he could do but couldn’t promise anything… Saturday there it was on my door mat. Good job as I got stopped on the way back in France.
