Mayor to block Port Of Calais

I’ve stated my opinion several times on this thread so I hardly need to do so again. As for rest, unlike you I don’t make assumptions about people and would never consider a whole forum with some very intelligent members (many of whom I don’t see eye to eye with and many much more intelligent than me) ignoramuses. You make so many assumptions about me its comical.

And there we have the typical British attitude summed up in one post, ‘its not our problem’ closely followed by ‘send the troops in’. Clueless. With attitudes like that is it any wonder the French rather they got to the UK.

I must be missing something, surely sending the troops in now is the perfect response as the current defences are clearly not enough!!

.

Is that really your first response? Send in the troops? A more sensible suggestion would be for us to assist the town of Calais in dealing with this situation, we don’t need the army just yet, we just need to stop buying our heads in the sand and pretending is all down to Calais to sort out.

in an ideal world i’d agree with you. but the fact is most of these coming in are uneducated and often muslim. they report over 500 educated people have gone to fight in Syria, i’m sure it wouldn’t take much to turn these immigrants into hate spouting madmen who have nothing but the clothes they stand up in and not a single friend apart from their fellow muslims.

I 100% believe this a serious national threat and if we don’t come down hard on these people there will be another terrorist attack. This isn’t a case of them taking a few crappy jobs and benefits, its much more serious.

There ya go, sorted (Romans?? and look what happened to them !!)

I wasn’t saying we should let everyone one in, we can’t (fancy that, me a tree hugging lefty Guardian reading liberal too) I was just saying we need to work with the French to deal with t this situation in a grown up manner, instead of constantly playing the blame game. Imagine if your town was overrun with illegal immigrants trying to get to a third country, it can’t be very pleasant for the people of Calais

Just a thought but … amongst all those who have already entered the UK by illegal means is it not feasible that there may be a few sleepers for the terrorist islamic jihadist groups who are just awaiting the wake up call ? I’m sure handing them food parcels at Calais will have made them realise the error of their ways … + if a new disease is discovered and there’s no cure, what’s the next option ?.. you try to eradicate the problem at the source !!

I agree with Luke about it not being very nice for the people of Calais, but it’s even worse for us when they get here!

The root cause to the crisis is the perception of Britain by these asylum seekers. Whilst they see us as a safe haven where they’ll be able to slip into the black economy and earn a few quid cash in hand we are never going to be able to stem the flow. The Governments main priority must be to address the mindset of these unfortunates.

As to how they do that I have absolutely no idea, but then again I’m not an elected official.

the maoster:

A perception created in no small way by media lies, lies to sell papers and stir up hate. They’ve been stirring this up for so many years is it any wonder asylum seekers believe these stories?

And what lies are these Luke, pray tell ■■

I am not sure any of this will matter after 9/11 this year.
They cannot find the 11 civil airliners that were taken from Libya in August :open_mouth:

There are rumours that we haven`t seen anything yet

The country is run by criminals anyways, so why not let another lot run it, at least their food is more palatable

We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

And then we’ll change our mind and let anybody in. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not at all, just waiting for an answer to the questions put to you about your ‘solution’ to the problem you so rightly know so much about, having an opinion does not make it correct but you think otherwise. You accuse me of leaving people to drown without knowing all the facts then you spout their being a being passive type of a solution. well when the British blood starts to flow (which it will) maybe you and others like you of the same ideas might be partly responsible (but indirectly maybe) for more deaths than (allegedly) me !!

Has anyone else noticed that when Luke cannot find a valid reply he seems to resort to humour, if only his sort of humour :unamused: (or is it just me ?)

Christ you’re hard work debating against, which is why I didn’t want to in the first place.

  1. ‘My’ solution is for us to assist the French in the ways they have been asking. I’ve already made this clear. We would cooperate for our mutual interest. They seem to have a specific cost in mind so I assume they have a fairly detailed plan to go with it. Then if that doesn’t work its time to think of other more serious courses of action.

  2. I commented on your original post where you clearly implied you choose not to go to the assistance of these people. You can’t write stuff then cry when people take what you say literally. You didn’t give the whole story in your original post, so how could I have known the ‘facts’ at that point?

  3. Opinions aren’t facts, I know this full well but I’m not sure you do. I don’t have all the answers and I’m often wrong. But unlike many on here when I’m proved wrong I say so.

  4. Indirectly responsible for shedding of blood? What on earth have I said that’s so revolutionary?! The sum of what I said I this- a) I value human life greatly b) Illegal immigrants in Calais are a big problem and c) We should assist the French in dealing with them. Really electrifying stuff I know. With crazy ideas like this we’ll all be dead by Christmas…

  5. Just because sometimes I resort to humor doesn’t mean I have no valid response. Sometimes that’s the case, other times I’ve no interest debating the poster concerned, often because its like bashing my head on a brick wall having to repeat myself constantly.

I hope this makes clear my views Raymondo and that you have a good evening. I’m sick of going round in circles so can we please leave it there.

OMG!!! quickly now somebody send this post haste to Paris and London, switchlogic has the definitive answer, somewhere its there, someone point it out to the less politically aware, that’s not me you understand, perhaps he’s got a magic wand that makes them disappear or changes them from being muslims whose beliefs require the deaths of all gays, another load of hollow politico ‘switchlogic’ claptrap.

   Oh Lorn,Traka, you do make me chuckle.
