God 1500 more piles of [zb] on the roads and most of them will be G cabs ha ha ha. Got more hump than the Mrs with PMT.Anyone who thinks Stobart is going away is going to be sadly mistaken, this order shows massive investment.
They may well not be v8 this/ that, giga space this that, but for what I do ,pulling round 8/10/12 metre tris round city centres there more than up too the job
Couldn’t agree more! When you put them next to the Axors or little DAF CF’s I’d rather have a smelly old Scania G cab any day. They drive better, feel better, more refined, more spacious. I find them plenty big enough for shift work too. The R series are ok too but better for doing the longer runs.
I wonder who’ll be getting the new ones then■■?

I have never driven an Axor and the little cf’s are cramped, the space cab ones are the mutts nutts though!

I find it difficult to understand why somebody with only limited knowledge of the transport industry would hate a manufacturer with such passion. Pretty embarassing actually…
Just because I passed my class 2 last year, you assume I have ‘limited experience’, I have worked around waggons for the last 10 years mate, I’ve driven every make apart from a hino, and IMO Scania are the most uncomfortable/gutless truck I have ever had the misfortune to drive and sleep in.
Also when I worked in transport for co-op they were the ones off the road the most too, yet the fodens kept on going!

they are everywhere i go lately, there was 2 of them leaving Severfield Reeves place at dalton airfield the other day with 22.5mtr long loads of fabricated steel with an ■■■■■■ van behind them, I know a lot of the work they are doing is for Fisher engineering in Ireland

Is the fleet of units at Widnes being changed over to the white Tesco branded Axors & Daf CF’s? Noticed more and more of you driving them, more so Axors.
Actually don’t mind DAF CF’s. Fine for shift work and no Opticruise.

might be trying to muscle in on the tata steel job
Donnyboy:
Can’t remember who it is for but they got a steel contract lot of it goes into London on stretched flats. Probably another contract they under cut someone on
that’s called business fella

On loan from various Tesco depots. A load of our 4 wheelers have gone to Magna park for chilled work apparently.

they might in the future but not this time, Norberts have just been given the contract for another 3 years

Just think how much GB Plc could have benefited if we had any truck manufacturers left. At least the bankers will make a few quid!
Closest we have is the Leyland Assembly Plant…But they are fully responsible for the LF range as in design etc…Leyland also do the special builds…

Sorry I was still in 2013 in my head!
I passed my class 2 in August 2012, and my class 1 in July 2013.
You like to assume a lot of things don’t you! Just because I said I passed my class 2, you assume I don’t have class one. (Not that I personally see what difference it makes, if it was a class 2, or class 1, G Cab were on about!)
Also since when has the interior (which is after all what we’re on about, the hump) been any different in a class 2 motor, or is a rigid not classed as hgv’s in your eyes?

Obviously never driven a Tesco spec Axor then!

Really? What makes you think that? All Scanias on general haulage are R440s or R420s. Only Tesco and Chilled (or Fresh Network or whatever its called now) have G series 4 wheelers.
Never seen a Jenkinsons G series either, all their Scanias are R440s in my experience.

Well to start off with, I’ve never noticed a Rigid (Class 2 or Cat C) G series. Only ever seen a rigid with a P Series cab on it. So given your last statement was that you have only passed your class 2, hence my scepticism about your views on it. You also say you’ve driven every make apart from Hino, but then tell us that you’ve never driven an Axor?

We have Merc Axor 1840 auto rest cab artics and some 1822 manual day cab Rigids at work. The artics are awful and I can’t get comfy in them, but the rigids aren’t as bad and I can survive a day in one. So yes, I think there can be a bit of a difference.
Sacrilege time, I prefer the G series to the R series. The engine hump is quite useful for all my paperwork and PODs etc. R series you have to leave everything on the floor, slightly more awkward to grab things to check timings and addresses etc.

Lanky don’t get your frilly curtains in a twist!
I’m sorry I always though an Axor was a model made by Mercedes Benz, I didn’t realise an Axor was a manufacturer!
Like I said every MAKE bar Hino, Scania IMO are on a par with Iveco, except Iveco’s tend to pull better

Alright, no, Axors were made by Mercedes, but you can hardly compare an Axor to an Actros? It’s a bit like saying that you’ve driven a Ford Ka, so you know what a GT40 would be like.
There’re going bust
Only get jobs undercutting
Owned by tesco
And doing bloody well lol
