Massive Scania order from Stobart/Jenkinson

Lagrest order yet in the world for Euro 6 trucks, AND Scania 's biggest ever order in the UK

truckingtopics.co.uk/stobartjenkinson.html

Gregory’s have ordered 550 over 5 years

I think our boss has ordered one…over one year he is adding 25% to the fleet

I think euro 6 is such a rip off £10k extra for an only marginally cleaner vehicle than euro 5.

Just PR BS.

God 1500 more piles of ■■■■ on the roads and most of them will be G cabs ha ha ha. Got more hump than the Mrs with PMT.

Anyone who thinks Stobart is going away is going to be sadly mistaken, this order shows massive investment.

ER … Last time they had such a big order a large chunk of their Tesco work didn’t appear due to Tesco buying Fowlers…

So what exactly are you implying?

One would think if they had been bitten once they would be more prudent when purchasing new motors in the future!

On its arse this industry, There’s no money in it nowadays.
Someone begs to differ.

Think you will find Tesco have not bought Fowlers, they are still owned by the Dart Group which also owns Jet 2 cheap flights and Jet2.com holidays. A massive company!

They may well not be v8 this/ that, giga space this that, but for what I do ,pulling round 8/10/12 metre tris round city centres there more than up too the job,I also like the fact that even though every man and his dog dog describe them scrapie :exclamation: :exclamation: ,I’ve yet in 6+ years have one break down on me!the one I had fri had 697, 000on it and it drove like the day it came in,even though it had been abused for its most of its life.
Too be honest I moan if I get one of our 420 high lines ( auto), I’d much rather have a g-400 ( manual), much more suited for what I do.
As for there not going away,a fleet reduction at our depot of 75 trucks down to 20 shows there not getting bigger though :exclamation: :exclamation:
N.b any chance of you browns/turners merc glory boys getting your foot down :exclamation: :exclamation: ,I seem too be constantly tripping over you lot in my little old ( no go) g-cab :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:
On the a1, or are you all more interested in admiring yourselves in your mirrors

Don’t take any notice of driver BS speak in rdc waiting rooms. Tesco will never, ever, ever buy Fowler Welch or Stobarts.

I stand corrected on what I was told … I know the eu part of the company was sold and that Tesco wanted the jet2.com part of the company, thing is in todays markets you just don’t know who owns who or what now

There spending money alright, they also have 65 new extendable flat trailers on order

Seen a few flats with steel on last week, who’s contract is this?

Just think how much GB Plc could have benefited if we had any truck manufacturers left. At least the bankers will make a few quid!

You must be stuck behind a Turners mate, they need the hours to earn the coin, us at Browns are on day rate, no point hanging about! Amyway I’m yet to have a Stobart catch me up nevermind try and overtake in those scrap heap underpowered scrapias

There’s a big difference between buying and leasing!

Exactly, you can’t let the fleet get old otherwise you pay more tax, this is just ongoing truck replacement, its sensible and prudent to a large company. If stobbies went ■■■■ up tomorrow (which I doubt very much) the main men will still be the millionaires they are today.

So they don’t spec the trucks up to hilt, so what they spec them for a job and that’s it, an owner driver would do different and no I don’t work for or ever have worked for Stobarts, just my observation after many years in business.

Can’t remember who it is for but they got a steel contract lot of it goes into London on stretched flats. Probably another contract they under cut someone on

+1, tesco is too stupid to think of such, they can’t even keep their own zb together…!
