Mason Bros/Pikes lorry at Stowmarket gala thing circa 1968/69

Hi all
fantastic to see Mason Brothers thread
Im new to this but thought I would add to the site some of my memories
I was an apprentice Mechanic in the garage on Wilton Gardens in Rotherham from 1977 to 1980/1
I can remember all the names of the lads in the workshop there.
Bernard Nixon, he was the foreman and lived at Bramley, after Mason shut he went to work for Sid Wood on Tenter Street,
Earnest Gibson, he was the painter and bodyman , went on to run a pub in Parkgate, Died around 8 years ago.
Les Mason, Mechanic, son of owner Albert Mason, went to northen dairies on Lloyd Street in Parkgate.
Jim Bunting, Mechanic, went on to work for SYPTE at Rotherham, then to Andrews Busses on Wooleywood Bottom., he was my mentor, a fantastic bloke who taught me well, and gave me a clip if I got it wrong,
Peter Hart Mechanic, left in 79 to take over Greaseborough Service Station,
Bobby Lee, Trailer man/Driver, was still a driver last time I saw him in around 2001,
Me Dave Casey, Apprentice Mechanic, now the owner of Rotherham Jag Centre, Parkgate,

Drivers I remember, Pat Flannigan, Frankie Bettison, John Shaw, Eric Gamston, ■■■■■■■, Pete Scales, and a few others that will come to me in time
Stuart Mason, Albert Mason, Maany Mason, Shelia, in the office, Richard the wages Clerk, Ted the tyre Fitter, to name but a few
I loved working there and was heartbroken when I got made redundant in 1981, to those who may remember, I had the little garage in the driveway of Masons, building a little Red and Black Mini Cooper, ive still gor the little car and its still going strong, I started there at the tender age of 15 and am now 52, time flies, wish I was still there

Hi Dave remember working on this Cheers Mel

nice to see some pictures of there sabrina cabbed ERFs , they had tippers and i think a 6x4 artic as well …thank you TRevor

My dad is terry ‘taffy’ williams. I remember going to work with him when i was a bairn. I thought it was brill as any kid would, on one occasion i crashed their for lift truck into a trailer, i was sat on it messing and unwittingly set it of reversing, at this point dougie kirk came running over shouting to stand up so he could jump on, but i stood up on accelerator and well crash bang, think kids were banned from yard after that. Another time my dad told me to go and make a cup of tea so i went and chucked a load of teabags in water boiler, got a few laughs that. And one bloke, cant remember his name sat me on gas heater while it was on full and nearly set fire to mi ■■■. All this and the smell of grease and swarfiga, oh and a nice sausage and kectchup butty make for some happy memories. Dads still going, lives in south wales these days

Another ex workmate that’s no longer with us. Worked with Alan at Senior’s, Alan Stinson and ABS. His 1st Lorry at Senior’s was a Leyland Super Comet 4- wheeler Reg DET100L EX London Scan then a Leyland Marathon SHE 620S which Geoff Nicholls had when it was new.

Alan Roper in the cab of his Dads Leyland comet, his sister still lives in the house ( spoke to her today) I think Graham Walker drove the Leyland comet when it was at London scan
