You all call him a mug etc but his bank account and notoriety (in the most POSITIVE way, spotters and that) far out weigh the negative comments on here!!
He has got some bottle to allow the trash that is broadcast. I know personally some of the drivers that have appeared and they are disgusted If they had known the crap they would have refused. There is so so much filmed positive driving activity that has not been screened it is unbelievable - but that wouldn’t make good television viewing would it??

It always amazes me how people want to slag off somebody they’ve only seen on telly, I’ve seen it with racing drivers, you read stuff on social media about them and it doesn’t in any way match the polite, grateful, team player I know. or the driver who stands in the queue with the rest of the team to get dinner or when he gets to F1 gets passes for his former mechanics family to have VIP treatment in the F1 paddock or makes a point of going down the pit lane to chat with the mechanics from his previous team or pushes his brother in his wheelchair round the entire length of the Spa circuit or when the lads in his team who ordered some expenses watches through his sponsor ask him how much they owe him just says don’t worry I’ve sorted that.
How true that is.
I have had the very fortunate experience, if that’s what you want to call it, of being in the company of one Mr Lewis Hamilton when he was at McLaren, and a sounder guy you couldn’t wish to meet. Yes sometimes he comes across all flash and gangster when you see him on tv, but really he’s so down to earth you wouldn’t believe it.
Same with some of the rally stars of yesteryear. Ari Vatanen springs to mind. Always had time for the fans and officials at events, and is still the same man now even though he has almost retired from the competing side.
I’ve met him a few times, he’s been at Beaulie for the past 2 yrs, and we bumped into each other at the coop shop at Shrivenham, the guy was just trying to buy some tea, the next thing he’s got people wanting to take picture with him and the truck.
So in my eyes its a double edged sword, yeah he’s probably earned a lot of money from the show and personal appearances, but when you’ve been in the drivers seat all day long,and he probably just wanted to get parked up for the night, he still had to have a smile and be polite to people and stay there while they all took photo’s.
I thought that it was just women who thought that they knew the people that they had “met” on television.The man and the character that he portrayed are two different things.
Never met the guy although did pass him as he was coming out our yard once ,
Couldn’t care less if he was on TV , the guys a driver same as me, same as the rest of us , till he does me wrong that they way he gets treated .
All the ones one here slagging him off please remember a clever editor can make anyone clever or stupid ! What you see on TV ain’t all real ,

I would bet he is actually a member on this forum, or ar least dips into it, he is just another driver after all, despite what some think of the lad.
If he had made that much out of the ‘fame’ on the Stobby tv bullcrap, he would not be daft enough to be still driving trucks after all…
