robroy:
Seems to be a lot of unjust hate for this guy, he does not come across as an arse to me tbh.
I’m a fully paid up member of the Stobby ■■■■■■■■■■ club, but he is just a driver like the rest of us, if he can capitalise and make a bit extra good on him I reckon.
I’m sure he will be devastated by some of the abuse on here if and when he picks up his cheque for a 100 grand after being on Celeb big bro, or in the jungle, due to raising his public profile.
There are bigger no marks and oxygen thieves on those shows than him, so good luck to the lad I say.
Well said robroy. It’s fairly obvious it is just jealousy. The guy is a decent bloke but the infants on here still have to have a dig.
Lol! I like the way some on here say he is a decent Guy.
I don’t have the ability to determine if complete strangers are decent or not. I will have to work on that.
But I do know that he offered an autograph to a driver, and then went to book in. When he came back, said driver lamped him, and Mr D then decided to walk over to another Stobart driver who was stood next to them for a witness statement.
This other Stobart driver when interviewed back at the depot, ’ remembered ’ that he was on the catwalk and didn’t see anything.
most who demean Mark have never met him, I have and in fact spent an evening on the beer with him. he is so far away from the way TV depicted him its unreal. he is also no fool he knew that it was his chance to make a few quid and grabbed it while he could.
He is also no coward, many folks on here slagged him off, as well as on other social media, called him every name under the sun, but he had the balls to go to Truckfest and spend many hours on our stand meeting folks- funnily enough not one of the internet loudmouths had the balls to come and say their piece to him in person.
Yes the programme made him look a bit of a prat at times, but his bank account is having the last laugh

Well said Rikki. I have never met the bloke personally but have a good mate that knows him well and he has told me the guy is totally sound.
It’s a pity some lorry drivers seem to have lost respect for each other these days. Childish bickering over all sorts. Pathetic eh.

I assume you were there at the time then?
I assume he wasn’t. But I do assume Mr beaver also believes stories involving chalk.
The Mark Dixon I know isn’t the flash guy on TV, its the one that took all the banter at Truckfest- with a smile. its also the one that when his shift was almost over on the stand noticed a Downs syndrome lad who was in the queue but quite nervous, this shallow Mark who everyone takes the ■■■■ out off gave up his break to sit and talk to the young lad, spend almost all his break with him and made a little lads day… no one asked Mark to do that- so slag him off because of the way the TV depicted him- some of us know the man and know better than you
It always amazes me how people want to slag off somebody they’ve only seen on telly, I’ve seen it with racing drivers, you read stuff on social media about them and it doesn’t in any way match the polite, grateful, team player I know. or the driver who stands in the queue with the rest of the team to get dinner or when he gets to F1 gets passes for his former mechanics family to have VIP treatment in the F1 paddock or makes a point of going down the pit lane to chat with the mechanics from his previous team or pushes his brother in his wheelchair round the entire length of the Spa circuit or when the lads in his team who ordered some expenses watches through his sponsor ask him how much they owe him just says don’t worry I’ve sorted that.
eagerbeaver:
That’s him mate-you must know him too!
He was involved in the Libyan embassy siege he told me. And he reckons the customs let him go, but still missed the Enterprise because of a blow out.
Luckily for him though, Albion1971 had taught him advanced LGV blowout control, and he simply jackknifed it whilst lighting up a cig.
I have met him, he also told me they begged him to star in Stobart Trucks and Trailers, but due to his role in the SAS he needs to remain anonymous. He didn’t just sign the official secrets act, he’s part of it.

You can only make a decision, or form an opinion beav on what you see I suppose.
Some come across as nice guys on tv but are complete arses in real life, and vice versa.
I would like to bet that the driver made a cheeky comment first, and that Dixon retaliated sarcastically, as maybe I would in his case, ‘‘Do you want my autograph’’ I really can not see him asking random drivers when he sees them, unless he is a complete conceited ■■■■■ right up his own arse the same as the co. he works for, which I doubt.
It sounds as if said driver was just picking a fight, but hey…who knows, I was not there.

As I posted earlier, mark dixon is a sound northern lad
I wouldn’t like to say either way having never met the bloke, but I know enough about film and TV crews to know they do hours of filming and only a small proportion of that ever makes it on the screen and what you do and say can be taken completely out of context once they’ve edit it, so can end up looking like a complete ■■■ on screen.

But if you’d smiled more, they might have been able to use more of your footage.
Like this or this but you did to much of this ocassionaly this and only when someone screwed up this

They wanted a lot more footage than they ended up with, but I worked very hard to avoid the cameras. Nice enough people but very intrusive when you’re at work.
