Hello all both are advertising for day drivers near me. If i was gonna apply which one should i consider first. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you
Maritime trucks are better specced
most Stobart unit’s don’t have a fridge
No experience of either but maritime only because you’ll get a half decent truck.
Yes all the above. But I thought Maritime is mostly tramping, Stobarts is day work. In that case the spec of the truck depends on the drivers needs.
i know that at stobarts you dent get your own unit unless you’re a tramper and the same with maritime. but what about day drivers at maritime, do you get your own or what? what about the hours and money anybody
Martitime i think you have to cab hop until something comes up (can be a year before you get your own), from what im told as i tired applying.

dont mind that if im guaranteed a truck after a year or so. it would be worth it i guess rather than having different one everyday
Night shift at Tilbury on Maritime was ÂŁ510.00 a week plus ÂŁ50 meal allowance! I was earning similar on Stobarts out of Tilbury to Tesco Purfleet shunting train boxes!

I wouldnt cab hop on tramping work personally as the lorry is my home, dont have my own house and just take what i need back to my girlfriends on sat+sun, ok if you travel light though i spose. I only didnt get the job because of age btw.
If it’s Felixstowe you probably won’t get your own motor on days just depends what’s available be aware though they now have a lot of them basic axors for day drivers. Money is £450 basic plus £50 meal allowance overtime after 11 hrs a day maritime are a decent company if you keep your head down and get on with the job
day lads dont get there own at maritime they just use the spare ones both jobs are a doddle if it was id say maritime
apply for both, decide once you have job offers

stobarts motors are all fleet spec no matter what your doing day nights or tramping
If thats the case with Maritime and them bleeding axors than i think i might go for stobbies atleast there are no axors yet. Thank you for replies
You lot are off your heads!
Looks like most are more interested in trucks rather than money.
Had a mate on for Maritime out of Southampton. He enjoyed the job very much, good TM and not too much stress. Maritime means Anytime, my mate used to say.
Cab hopped for a while then got to choose his own ride, gearbox etc.
All tramping work, though.
Hope this helps a bit.
who care"s what ya drive if your doing day work,as long as the truck is legal which with Maritime or Stobarts they will be and in fairly good condition, day or night trucks are easerly recognised they will have the most dents and scraps as noboby will give a dam about looking after them or cleaning them.with a trampers motor the driver tends to look after it more as its is home for the week until the weekend when every trampers nightmare rears its ugly head…AGENCY DRIVERS…
