Looks like most are more interested in trucks rather than money.

At the minute thats what im after , a nice unit. Now im driving DAF CF 54 plate. Want something bigger and better. I only relise how small it is when i park up in the service area or on the bays.

Exactly so you dont need a big cabbed motor.

Anyway doesnt it really matter if someone wants to drive a nice truck?

Tell you what mate. I’ll get you a posh motor with a fridge and lots of lights and a comfy bunk and you can pay me £500/week to drive it…Should keep you happy that matey!! :unamused:

When I was on for Turners, I tramped all week in a DAF CF with no problems, never found it too small or lack of room or storage or anything.

Only think i don’t like is thin bodied cabs like the CF and the AXOR where it’s a pain to line your pins up at Felixstowe (their machine can’t move an inch, but the horn works fine :smiling_imp: ), but other than that, it was a perfectly fine truck.

I either drive a Volvo FH 520 80th anniversary top of the range (about 57 plate I think - it’s on a private plate) or a 61 plate megaspace at the moment, and it really doesn’t bother me at all.

You really are a boy and a pleb. This is why the wages are poor people because wee boys take crap wages as long as the truck he drives but doesn’t actually own is top of the range. Pathetic

Christ this is so funny, drivers more interested in what spec/size the truck is rather then what size ya bank balance is. When ya abit older and lose that big trucker mentality you’ll realise its only a job boys…!

I no what you mean I was on for stobbies quite a few years back,
In the days off the flat crabbed scanias fh s man s etc, but just buy chance me and my mate had the only two fh gob stoppers in the yard, there was uproar, we didn’t ask for them it was just buy chance, the funny thing is half the plebs up in arms were day men!

+1

i thought you went out to work for the pay.try paying your mortgage gas leccy and council tax with a xf topline fh megspace gigaspace truck, ain’t going to get you far , but if that floats your boat . at the end of the day you have something to polish and willy wave in the truckstop :unamused:

Are you trying to compensate for something?

I’m driving Axor’s at the moment, and yes they are terrible units, but it pays well enough and it’s easy work. The truck is just a tool for the job.

Jolly good, I thought it was just me who found it odd going to a narrower cab, reversing was all over the place again for a few weeks.

Yeah, they always appear to be kink’d, so you compensate and then pull forward and try again

I got used to that pretty quick, but trying to line the pins up with boxes at felix, but you can’t see the pins, so you’re hanging out of the door trying to see them :unamused:

When I started at Stobarts In 1990, my first truck was a Ford Cargo artic. I remember parking up one night at a truckstop In Widnes next to a Volvo F12 Globetrotter Driven by a guy who looked a couple of years younger than me…I ended up sitting with him later on In the evening. Man he took the ■■■■ out of me for driving that Cargo, but I ended up having the last laugh when I showed him my wage-slip from the previous week…He was earning £200 a week less than me (We’re talking 1990 wages !!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: ). Money Is more Important than having a ‘nice ride’…

Maybe the nice motor makes up a bit for the ■■■■■■■■ money in this job, just a thought.

Personally I don’t see the need for walnut facias but then I’m just an old git!

Every night @ Tesco NI I see the “famous” Northern Irish reefer companies drivers lined up delivering in their Topliners/Globbys/SSC/Megaspace earning about £7/hour knackered after racing for the boat .

I will KEEP tootling past in the RDC in my Axor1840/FM400 for 43%/hour more :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :sunglasses:

Drivers bang on about how we get treated like ■■■■ in this game and you lot arent having it etc (despite doing jack ■■■■ about it), but when your given a narrow cab fleet motor that doesnt even have a fridge let alone anything else you lot bend over and take it and sit there and try and convince yourselfs that your on far more money than the guy sat next to you in a smart, comfortable, topline. Not all drivers give the boss £50 a week to drive the flagship motor in the fleet, most of them get a spec’d up truck because their bloody hard workers that know their stuff and the govner doesnt want to lose.
