You’d be better off not working out of Tilbury Depot  If you know what im saying,TMs got small man syndrome and its jobs for the boys

So I’ve heard from a man down the pub.

my mate is on there out of felixstowe, he wants to be out all week and they keep him out, tackle is good, and he is a proper gobby ■■■■ and they stick him!! tackle and money are good, seem like one of the better ones to work for these days

Tried to get job on there but they tell me I live too far away.

I’ve got a mate on for em’ he run’s out of Soton’

According to him there’s a waiting list to get in that depot,
he reckons he can take home £560(inc.N/Out) in a good week

hourly paid

parking paid

I think he might be telling a few lies if he’s taking £560 home :open_mouth: :open_mouth: more like £460
especially at the moment with work being slack.
There’s NEVER a waiting list to get in Southampton depot…they get through drivers like nobody’s business!!!
When you start you have to cab hop also(holiday relief)…but if you can get through that for a few weeks and actually make a bit of an effort and not moan and complain about everything, then they are a very good company to work for…dependant on which contract you eventually get put on.

You WILL get ■■■■■■ about though…but if you keep your head down and help them out, they’ll try and help you out…so Ive heard.

i stand corrected

i take it you actually work for maritime

bikemonkey as it spot on,we have a few ex maritime drivers, who have said you are a number on the payroll sheet,he left in feb and is still with us (con lift).

do you really want to be stuck at 52mph all day long?

That makes me wonder why someone would want to run to Europe

I said £560 in a GOOD week

Because it’s not salaried some weeks are better than others!

Anyway what is the average take home (inc. n/out) for uk tramping now?

Sorry, only read your quote in Dafmans post

£460 to £560 take home. Not for me.

52mph. Not for me

Probably can’t keep the unit at home. Not for me.

Big gob in the office. Not for me

But the head of Beverley Bell on a stake at truckfest. That’s for me.

Are you allowed to do that anyway, I’m sure Beverley Bell would be very intrested in that, having seen your last posts about her. Lets hope fo your sake she does’nt read this eh!!!

If your refering to the keep the unit at home bit, I always have done, Our opperating centre is across the water, So it’s not practicle to do it any other way.
However if you are refering to the Beverley Bells head on a stake bit, I’ll have to check if the EU will allow it. Probably not due to health and safety.

yes your right mate, i don’t know the real score, only what i’ve heard and yes probably a bit over inflated.

The thing is, i was taking home £450 inc. n/out 3 year ago, and i’m not taking that much more NOW. so why have the wages not gone up?

I would have thought £500 inc. would be a good average for 2008 what do you think?

I know we are heading for recession and diesel prices are getting past the point of control!

I’m on £39936 per year gross including overnights etc. My brother is on about £1600 more. But i won’t go to RDC’s. I was taking home £500 seven years ago. I reckon if you are a full time driver then don’t take less than £600 per week net.
It doesn’t matter weather your on containers, tankers, or flatbeds. You are all behind the wheel of a big piece of responsibility. Why do some drivers sell themselves short? Probably the same ones who cross picket lines because there family comes first. But at the same time they work for less.
