best thing to do then is wear just under crackers or a mankini and a pair of rigger boots , feed in plenty of arse scratching and ■■■■■■■ with the odd scrotum tickle thrown in and wait for disipline letter ,let us know the result :grimacing:

Tossers ■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■■

What so theyre gonna film you sitting around all day waiting for your load? [emoji57]

What are the drivers as a collective going to do about it? Bend over like good little boys and take it like usual.

I would wait until one appears in my cab and then hand my resignation stating that there is a break down of trust between myself and my employer and that my position with the company is no longer tenable.

I’m all for vehicles fitted with cameras observing the road ahead … but a one filming the driver is not on, I would hate that and consider moving. So a big “NO” from me

Have they given any reason as to why they want to record their drivers?

not even as though they’re a good looking bunch but still you cant be filmed without your permission can you

I’d sadly suggest they are within their rights to film within their property, and suspect that all firms will be heading down this road.
Along with bullshine like; It’s for your own protection, we need to look after you etc.

Hmmm proposals proposals, simply collectiveley contact your driver reps and object siting good reasons like invasion of privacy, distracting, safety issues etc then just make stuff up.
Or threaten to quit.

Our place have considered it but apparently Im immune from this observation method due to my Not Safe For Work shenanigans.
Only told em I would dress like a woman and knock one out for the cameras, the money shot would be all over the lens. Just a standard night in the cab to be fair.

Have been threatened with an oral warning though if I get seen again, not sure if thats bad or good.

Have been threatened with an oral

Cant beat a bit of oral

On a cleaner note  back in the days I cant talk about we had camera scramblers, these where big bulky unreliable things, apparently now theres a device which messes up the signal between CCD & CMOS sensors so a friend of mine who is in the SAS and also works for Jewsons told me.

Not available to civilians yet but shortly be coming once everyone has had enough of these buggers who love to video everything.

Maybe the accident on the M1 J16 North last Wednesday has added weight to this decision

When the Maritime Truck hit another truck up the chuff, pushed it into a UK Mail truck, that was pushed into a VW Golf, that was in turned pushed into a Jempsons

All in all, 4 trucks & 1 car
The pair in the car got out unhurt but very shaken,
The UK Mail driver, quite shaken,
The bloke behind, had a bone in his shoulder sticking through his fleece,
The Maritime Driver was screaming apparently,
Not sure of his injuries, but at least the screaming meant he was alive & his airways were clear

Unfortunately, that’s not quite true (the recording without permision bit, not sure about the attractiveness of their drivers!)

As long as they inform you it’s there and they have a genuine reason for filming there’s nothing to stop them.

I thought that they would be an intrusion till it was explained to me how they work and the company I work for have them in all vehicles company cars included
they are forward and driver facing
They over write the recording every 4 seconds unless there is an incident triggered then it keeps the previous 4 seconds and continues to record
they are viewed in America Seattle I think
they can only be viewed if there is a triggered incident normally harsh braking
they can be switched on manually but only by the driver in the cab I have mine on record all the time useful in cities and parked up
the curtains cover the lens at bedtime

That is how the ones we have fitted work but any flagged incident is reviewed in the traffic office. The majority of flagged incidents seem to be false positives usually when the ■■■■■■■ adaptive cruise control anti-collision gubbins in the truck throws a fit and slams on the brakes momentarily for no reason. One certain truck I drive I think the footage every time I went down the A1 approaching a bridge just before J50 where this particular truck always slammed on the brakes momentarily started with 4 seconds of me with a look of sheer “what the hell is going on” eventually changing over time to a 4 second shot of me rolling my eyes and in all cases nothing but empty road in front of me.

yes once the americans grade incidents the severe ones are sent to our office for review,

It’s not a proposal as far as I know, it’s after someone crashed while on the phone on the M1, still on the limiter at impact… (the one mentioned above near Northampton). They’d only been employed 3 weeks!

Needless to say, he’s not the most popular guy around here anymore…

and then do what■■?
go and work for another jobsworth company that either will already have them installed,or is about to…just bend over and take the shafting like good boys as that’s all thatl happen eventually.the insurance companies will offer 10p reduction in premium if you get one installed in their truck from an “approved” installer that’s paying them commission for every new install, and 1 by 1 the bigger companies will all follow suit like sheep, and like lemmings, the drivers will moan and accept it . the other option is to start work for a smaller company that’s less of a beancounter employer…

Bit of gaffer tape solve that problem
