I lost 2 in the last month at a cost of 91£ each.i have seen load of mans on the roads with them missing .bad design ,any body else seen them
its a terrible design, why they dont fit some kind of catch to stop it blowing out is beyond me.
A bungee cord usually does the trick though
We had a fleet of MAN’s on 58 plates half of which had lost either one or both of their deflectors.
Looks horrible with a yellow paint job and a black deflector.
Maybe MAN make a lot of money out of their poor design.
I think they’ve sorted it on the latest models, I’ve seen some black clip looking things on Bibbys new TGXs…
Some of ours were riveted on to make sure they stayed in place.
We have 63 plates now but I haven’t noticed anything different about how they are fixed.
I shall have to have a better look at them.

Had a 62 plate one the other day. Still not been fixed. Bibby’s may have made their own fix for it.

Maybe, they are the only ones I’ve seen & they are still intact(for now)…
Lost my OS one too. Bailed out on the A40 near Headington, I’m glad Plod didn’t see…
Been in a 13 plate for 2 days, mine were fine, but passed a few other MAN trucks and they were flailing about - which made me check mine - like they were going to pop open or come off, and this included the N/S ones which don’t open.
Stralis n/s ones are just as bad.
But then again, what can you expect?
Ken.
I thought it was the nearside ones that didn’t open on MAN like DAF…!?

Seen a few dafs and thought they forgot to shut them until I seen a few more and realised lol. I used to have a Stralis and even when it wasn’t gale force winds they still flapped out lol

Yep, it’s the offside one that opens (above the tank/steps) the Nearside is fixed.
I found on my 11 plate after I WD40’d the bracket (because it seemed to stick) it would open sometimes while I was driving along. I hav’nt sprayed my 13 plate & never had any problems (yet !)

You are correct, my bad alcohol induced typing
… not sure if you mean the ones to the rear of the cab, (air kit) or the ones either side of the front grill panel ■■

Rear of the cab mate

I thought we were talking about the 2 behind the cab. The offside one pulls out so you can climb up the tank steps, the nearside one stays where it is/fixed.
Not sure what the front panels do actually, don’t think they are very aerodynamic, (might as well just leave the corners rounded off) I think that they are they to make it look Cool (bit like a 143 Scania with twin stacks blowing our black smoke & a Rubber Duck in the windscreen ! Lol )
Bibby use a kuda air kit.
