Man tgx side air defectors blowing off with the high winds

Bloody hell they’ve been doing that for donkeys years. Must be well over a decade and they’ve still got the same problem.

martinviking:
Not sure what the front panels do actually, don’t think they are very aerodynamic, (might as well just leave the corners rounded off) I think that they are they to make it look Cool (bit like a 143 Scania with twin stacks blowing our black smoke & a Rubber Duck in the windscreen ! Lol )

I think they are supposed to direct air along the door.
If they weren’t there we would have a vacuum alongside the door which would ■■■■ spray off our front wheels upwards, making our cab side windows even dirtier.

I’ve no idea if that’s correct or not, but it seems reasonable.
If you’ve ever driven trucks from before we had those little front corner deflectors, you’ll know how much worse it was. Rain wasn’t a problem, it’s after it stops raining as the roads dry out.

+1 that was my understanding

The dirty door syndrome mentioned above happened with Foden Alphas too. They didn’t have the deflectors that Daf CFs had, or the angled doors.
